Production Process Evaluation
Research
I started my research off by looking at four different recent products that were similar to the
work I’m going to be creating, this was related to guest houses. I looked at the different colours
that they had used and the connotations, the audience appeal, the main image, text and font
and why I have chosen this image and what I have learnt from it? This really helped my
product as I knew what kind of image to use and how the colour scheme should link in with it.
I conducted one questionnaire and two interviews. I came up with two interviews as I the
questionnaire had more to do with the younger audience which I’m not targeting my work at.
So the other set of questions are more related to audience more. This helped out with my
products as it told me what my audience liked and what they would appeal to.
Planning
For my planning I began by writing an initial reaction on how I felt about the set brief and thinking about what I could
bring to my work for the end product to be of good quality. I decided to make my initial plans different and I added an
image of myself on another slide and then found different emoji’s of how I felt. Also, another I changed was
completing my mood boards first and then coming up with the mind maps. I found this easier because I could
describe more with emoji’s and I think if someone was looking at my work they would understand more of what I was
feeling.
When it came to my mood board’s I decided to create a mood board for each idea and analyse them. This was a
strength as it showed the different ideas come together. Also, the analyse helped as I talked about what had
influenced me so then I could use it in my final product.
After I had done that I created two mind maps. The first mind map was about the three ideas that I was considering.
On this I talked about all three ideas and expanding this to cover different aspects of what I could create and the
range of ideas to develop. Also, I considered different software that I was going to using along with the time
management and audience these ideas would have. Then, the second mind map was for my final idea. On this one I
talked about my idea and what my audience would be. I talked about the designs of each product and what I’m
adding to each product.
Initial plans helped my product as it gave me a better idea for what my final product will be. I don’t think there was
any weaknesses when it comes to inital plans because my idea was very clear and I knew what I wanted to do. If
there was something to improve on my plans I think it would be to just hand my work in time.
A big strength throughout production was production reflection. This is where I have kept a record of what I’ve done
and achieved in that day. Since production had started, I have logged all my thoughts and feelings about my work.
Production reflection helped my product as it guided me through my work to show everything I had done. Also, it’s a
good way to keep a record of what you’ve done and
what you had used as in the different tools which means if you wanted to do it again you
could look back at it.
Planning
Finally, the last piece of planning was pre-production. This is when I decided to use a website I hadn’t used before
called ‘Coolors’. I found this website very useful and helpful as all you had to do was press the spacebar to
change the colours. I picked out many different colour options so I could choose what would look better with my
work. When it came to thinking about fonts, I looked at both serif and sans serif.
For this I created layout plans which I used Instagram and Facebook posts but changed them by using shapes to
cover the text so then I could make it my own. This was a strength as I showed me what it was going to look like
and this way if I didn’t like the look of it then I could change it.
I created two different flat plans front and back for my leaflet and four different plans for my poster. I did this to
show the variations of what my work could look like.
The resources I needed such as equipment I’m going to be using when I take the photos of my client’s business
and the different locations that I’m going to be using in Harrogate. Furthermore, this helped as these were the
places that I was going to be taking photos of.
Next, is contingency planning which is things that could possibly happen whilst producing your product. As
anything can happen throughout producing your product I needed to come up with a health and safety plan to
prevent them issues. Luckily, nothing happened during production to have to look at either the contingency plan
or health and safety.
Time Management
When I started my project I kept up to date with everything until my Production Reflection wouldn’t open on my
memory stick and needed repairing so I had to buy another memory stick and transfer all my work over.
Unfortunately, this happened again with my Pre-Production which meant I had to redo my work.
I had made a schedule showing what I was going to be working on throughout the ten weeks I had. I
thoroughly went through all the power points to see what I had to do. When it came to the weeks for production
I had to really think this through as I didn’t know what product to start first. However, once I had logically
thought about it all it came together. I have managed to stick to the schedule which really helped.
I have completed my main products and they have been handed in, but there are a some products that haven’t
been handed in as they just need to be finished.
If I had additional time, I don’t think I would have used it wisely. So in the time I had I made sure I used it
sensibly. I made sure I had done most of my power points first and keep to the deadline by doing some work at
home or staying at college.
Technical Qualities
Technical Qualities
I have picked the same poster that I had analysed in my research which will make the qualities easier as I have
already talked about it.
Image:
They have used three separate images to show the rooms off and also using captions underneath the images to tell
their audience what the image is showing. Below the captions they have used more text saying if their audience has
any questions then they can ring or email them. I haven’t used any more images on my poster to show the rooms
because the image I had was portrait and wouldn’t have looked good with the style.
The main image is of the business however you can’t tell which building it is as there are many buildings around.
Whereas on my poster, I have used the building itself so the audience could see what it looks like more clearly. I have
used the filter gallery on my main image to make it look like someone has drawn it by hand as that was the look I was
wanting.
They have used the clouds and made the rest of the top bit white which still blends in with the blue underneath. The
only shapes I have used on my poster was the two triangles and that was to place text which is the similarity with the
other poster apart from using different shapes.
Another difference is the Casa Chilhue poster has used a box to advertise to ‘reserve’ a room which I haven’t
advertise to reserve. One similarity is they both have contact information at the bottom of the poster which is the key
part of the poster as that is what the audience is going to look if they want to book. One more difference between both
posters is I’ve used the ‘Accommodation Harrogate’ logo and the other poster doesn’t have a local accommodation
logo.
Technical Qualities
Text & Font:
The difference with the text is I have added a stroke and used a different colour on the bottom triangle and on the
other poster they have used yellow text in the middle. However, they have changed the colour of the text underneath
the boxes so the audience can see the text better as the background is white in that part and they have then carried
on with the colour white at the bottom where the box changes to blue. A difference is the font on both of the posters. I
have used sans to make the poster look smart and for it to carry on with the font of the text on the green shelter area.
Casa Chilhue poster has used sans serif which doesn’t make their poster un-smart. It makes it more causal. Then,
when it comes to the yellow text in the middle of the poster which says ‘Welcome to Chile’ is in a different font.
Colour Scheme:
The colour scheme is different for both. On my poster, I have used more natural colours such as different shades of
green whereas the other poster has used more cool colours such as different shades of blue. A similarity is some of
the text have both used the colour white. In the triangle at the bottom, the text is different as I have used a stroke.
Technical Qualities
Technical Qualities
Image
The main image on the ‘Queen Victoria’ leaflet is of Blackpool tower and the beach. They have used a simple design
layout for their leaflet. Also, with their design they have used waves that go through the leaflet. This reflects from the
ocean in Blackpool. On my leaflet, I used an image is from the front of the client’s business. One similarity from the
front of the leaflet is that both have used their local accommodation advertisement to show that they are a part of
something. One difference still including the front of the leaflet is the Queen Victoria has used a barcode whereas I
have put the ‘TripAdvisor’ logo there to show that this business is on there so people can have a look at the property.
Another similarity is they both used a map to show where to go however, on my map I have added little drop points to
show where we are and where the train and bus station is. An additional similarity is the ‘how to find us’ area. I have
put where to go from the train station as this is the main point of transport except from driving.
The very first page of the leaflet I have put the ‘contact us’ there so my audience can directly call or email. On the
Queen Victoria leaflet they have used that space to add a ‘what our customers say…’ which is a good idea too.
Another difference is my leaflet has the social media logo’s on to show what social media their business is on and the
name of it is in the text.
An additional difference is on the Queen Victoria leaflet they have added the website address at the bottom of the
leaflet and on mine which doesn’t have it but will be on the ‘contact us’ page.
Technical Qualities
Text & Font
For the text on the Queen Victoria leaflet they have used a sans serif font as the headlines and for the text content
they have used serif which I personally think looks unprofessional using two different fonts. I have used a sans font
throughout my work to keep the consistency of my product and the client’s businesses font they have used.
Colour Scheme
On both of the leaflets the font and text is very similar. The colour scheme for the Queen Victoria leaflet is white, light
blue and dark blue and the colour scheme for my leaflet is just white. I wanted a simple background colour so then I
could use the images that I took.
Technical Qualities
Technical Qualities
Image
Both of the images are very different as the image that I have taken is of food and a building and the other one is a
guy sitting on steps. It doesn’t look like the existing product is edited as it looks very natural with the lighting. The main
different is the product is portrait and mine is landscape and all similar sizes too. I have used different Instagram edits
to make the images darker around the corners. One difference there is the hash tags as on my posts there aren’t any
and on the other one there is.
Text & Font
The text and font is going to be the same for all of these posts as they are social media. The caption on my post is
‘Sublime Sunday Lunch’ which goes with the image nicely. However, one difference is that I didn’t put the hash tags.
Colour Scheme
On my posts there are multiple different colours going on and on the other post there a few going on such as blue,
dark blue and white. These colours are very cooling. My colours are very warm which then links in with the food and
the atmosphere on a night in the restaurant.
Technical Qualities
Technical Qualities
Image
I decided to create a design for a bear to be my client’s business mascot. A simple design on a white t-shirt.
When comparing it to the merchandise f10 which t-shirts is bigger and the logo is in the corner of the top. This is
a visual place so people can see it. On the bear the logo is centred in the middle of the t-shirt so when I took the
photos you could see the design. The main image is of a tree with text above it.
Text & Font
The font on bear’s t-shirt is sans as this goes with the rest of my work. f10 has used sans serif in a very casual
way as the ‘f’ is in lower case and not capitals. They both haven’t used any more text on any more of their
products.
Colour Scheme
The colour scheme is different as I have used white and green and f10 has used black and yellow. The colours
that I have used are very natural and f10 is very bold which shows the simplicity that I was going for.
Aesthetic Qualities
For my poster I wanted the image to be of the front of my client’s business as if it
had been drawn on paper. So I used the filter gallery on Photoshop to find the
nearest to it. I have added two triangles which I have used the colours from my
scheme which are the colours at the bottom.
As you can see there is a clear difference between the original image and the
edited version. The first difference is the poster has been made smaller so there
is less sky. I decided to cover the next house with the triangles so the audience
couldn’t see it.
The colour scheme goes really well with the image as I’ve chosen natural colours
that link in with the image as being edited. I wouldn't change the colour scheme
as I think it matches really well and the audience can still see it.
I think one strength for the poster is it advertises everything that is needed such
as the name of the business, what the business is, the telephone number, the
website and the email.
A weakness would be to change the fonts on my work as it doesn’t look
professional. I have put this as a weakness because this is in my feedback to do
so. Personally, I agree with this and I would change the font on the bottom
triangle as I think that is the one that looks unprofessional.
Aesthetic Qualities
My leaflet is full of text and images. I think it has the right amount of information on it for the audience to know
where to go in Harrogate. One weakness which is from my feedback and which I also agree with is the fact that the
images are very sharp. I think this is one thing that I would improve on by making the images more fun and less
sharp by maybe putting them into different shapes.
Some aspects that I like on my leaflet are the ‘about us’ because I have used the same tree which is on the mascot
for my client’s business and for the rest of my work.
I have done this for all my work to have consistency and all link.
From my feedback there isn’t any negative feedback for my leaflet which good because
it means I don’t have anything to improve on. However, there was one thing missing
when I was looking at my leaflet and that is the website link isn’t on here which is
needed for people to look at in more depth.
Aesthetic Qualities
The material was a pillowcase and this is what it has
turned into. I have used this bear as the mascot for my
client’s business. I have used screen printing for the t-
shirt. I have used the same font and tree as the rest of
my work. I wouldn’t improve anything for the bear as I
think it’s good and serves it purpose which is to
advertise. A strength would be it was simple and easy to
make. It was also really fun to create and to think of. I
don’t think there is any weaknesses to producing this.
Aesthetic Qualities
These are the main Instagram posts that I came up
with. I think these posts catch the eye of my audience
as it will make them want to go to this restaurant.
From my questionnaire one of the questions was
‘How often do you check social media?’. The
responses that I got from this were different. Some
people don’t check it all the time and the rest check it
all the times.
Another question I had put down was ‘Which media
gets your attention?’. For this the responses I got
back were Instagram or all social media which helps
me as I have used Instagram to promote my client’s
business.
The strengths of this was to advertise the business
and I believe it has worked.
Audience Appeal
My product will appeal to both genders aged 26-36 and the 37+ age range category. I think this age range are
more likely to stay in a guest house rather than a hotel as they like the comfort and feel of home. When they have
a look at my client’s business they will find out the location of how close it is to the town centre and this is one thing
that will appeal to them.
The psychographic is achiever/emulator. This group will be the ones who respond to my posts on Instagram. They
will get their daily information for what is happening in and around Harrogate. My audience will appeal to my post
as in my questionnaire, one of the questions was ‘What attracts you to look at an advert?’. The responses I got
from this were mostly the image. So when it comes to my poster, I have used the image of my client’s business for
the main image.
For my social status, it will be ABC1 because they are middle class people who will be in a place like Harrogate for
business or pleasure either way they will need a place to stay.
My audience will appeal to my Instagram post as one of the questions from my questionnaire was ‘Which of the
following social media networks do you use on
a regular basis?’ From this Instagram and the other social media
popped up more.
As I conducted an interview as well, one of the questions was ‘What’s the biggest mistake you see local
businesses making with their digital advertising?’. The response from this I knew that I couldn’t make a mistake
whilst advertising digitally otherwise it would have showed that I didn’t read the interview properly. My digital
advertising will appeal to my audience as I have made sure I have promoted the name ‘Ash Grove Guest House’
everywhere on my work.
Peer Feedback
Feedback 1
What did you like about the product?
 I like the design of the leaflet. There is a consistent theme and design throughout your
work, and it looks simple. There is just enough information on it, without being too
much. I also like the tree logo which has been used throughout all of your work. Your
Instagram photos also look professional.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
 I think that the poster could look a bit more professional, because the fonts look quite
basic. Apart from that all your work is good.
Feedback 2
What did you like about the product?
I think it has been very well thought out and you’ve covered a large array of different
social media websites in order to get the advert to a wider audience. The T-shirt on the
bear is a very good idea and it was a good idea to have Harrogate’s entertainment
venues on the leaflet. Overall it all looks very professional.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
You could have checked the grammar and punctuation on the information.
Feedback 3
What did you like about the product?
 I like how the design/format is very consistent across the series of stuff.
 You kept the font consistent.
 I feel it is good how you have included many details about the location and such that may be
included in professional products.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
 I feel that the website included was less professional than it could be, this is due to the lack
of website on the leaflet and the “http//:” included on the poster.
 I do feel that you may be able to include some more graphic design details as many pages
of the leaflet seem to be slightly empty and less well presented than they could have been.
 I also feel that having all the images just very boxy. Even the logos for the social medias,
makes it slightly less professional. As these could be custom or any such designs, and not
include such sharp corners.
Client’s Feedback 4
What did you like about the product?
What improvements could have been made to the product?
Peer Feedback Summary
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
 From my peer feedback, I agree with everything said. I think that all feedback is
good and it means that I can go back and look at the little points that I’ve missed
such as the website on the leaflet.
 I agree with the fact that the locations are on the leaflet as they are needed on
there my audience to look at and see where they want to go.
 Another part I agree with the information the leaflet being enough. I didn’t want my
audience to read too much and start getting bored and look somewhere else.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
 I don’t think there is anything I disagree with from my feedback. I think there is
enough for me to go back and complete my work in a more professional way for
my client to be able to use my advertisement ideas.
Peer Feedback Summary
What changes would you make to your product based upon your peer feedback and why?
 Some changes that came up in the feedback and that I realised myself afterwards is
that I haven’t added the website onto the leaflet but it’s on the poster. So when I go
back to my work I will add in the website.
 Another part I realised was the images of the rooms that I added in are very boxy
shaped which makes the leaflet less professional. I will need to change the corners of
the images.
 Also, from the feedback I clearly just need to check my work again for spelling,
punctuation and grammar.
 For the poster, I think I might need to change the font and maybe the colour. At the
moment my feedback is saying that the font doesn’t look professional enough to work
out. So again when I come back to my work to see what I need to change this is one
thing I will look at.

Evaluation

  • 3. Research I started my research off by looking at four different recent products that were similar to the work I’m going to be creating, this was related to guest houses. I looked at the different colours that they had used and the connotations, the audience appeal, the main image, text and font and why I have chosen this image and what I have learnt from it? This really helped my product as I knew what kind of image to use and how the colour scheme should link in with it. I conducted one questionnaire and two interviews. I came up with two interviews as I the questionnaire had more to do with the younger audience which I’m not targeting my work at. So the other set of questions are more related to audience more. This helped out with my products as it told me what my audience liked and what they would appeal to.
  • 4. Planning For my planning I began by writing an initial reaction on how I felt about the set brief and thinking about what I could bring to my work for the end product to be of good quality. I decided to make my initial plans different and I added an image of myself on another slide and then found different emoji’s of how I felt. Also, another I changed was completing my mood boards first and then coming up with the mind maps. I found this easier because I could describe more with emoji’s and I think if someone was looking at my work they would understand more of what I was feeling. When it came to my mood board’s I decided to create a mood board for each idea and analyse them. This was a strength as it showed the different ideas come together. Also, the analyse helped as I talked about what had influenced me so then I could use it in my final product. After I had done that I created two mind maps. The first mind map was about the three ideas that I was considering. On this I talked about all three ideas and expanding this to cover different aspects of what I could create and the range of ideas to develop. Also, I considered different software that I was going to using along with the time management and audience these ideas would have. Then, the second mind map was for my final idea. On this one I talked about my idea and what my audience would be. I talked about the designs of each product and what I’m adding to each product. Initial plans helped my product as it gave me a better idea for what my final product will be. I don’t think there was any weaknesses when it comes to inital plans because my idea was very clear and I knew what I wanted to do. If there was something to improve on my plans I think it would be to just hand my work in time. A big strength throughout production was production reflection. This is where I have kept a record of what I’ve done and achieved in that day. Since production had started, I have logged all my thoughts and feelings about my work. Production reflection helped my product as it guided me through my work to show everything I had done. Also, it’s a good way to keep a record of what you’ve done and what you had used as in the different tools which means if you wanted to do it again you could look back at it.
  • 5. Planning Finally, the last piece of planning was pre-production. This is when I decided to use a website I hadn’t used before called ‘Coolors’. I found this website very useful and helpful as all you had to do was press the spacebar to change the colours. I picked out many different colour options so I could choose what would look better with my work. When it came to thinking about fonts, I looked at both serif and sans serif. For this I created layout plans which I used Instagram and Facebook posts but changed them by using shapes to cover the text so then I could make it my own. This was a strength as I showed me what it was going to look like and this way if I didn’t like the look of it then I could change it. I created two different flat plans front and back for my leaflet and four different plans for my poster. I did this to show the variations of what my work could look like. The resources I needed such as equipment I’m going to be using when I take the photos of my client’s business and the different locations that I’m going to be using in Harrogate. Furthermore, this helped as these were the places that I was going to be taking photos of. Next, is contingency planning which is things that could possibly happen whilst producing your product. As anything can happen throughout producing your product I needed to come up with a health and safety plan to prevent them issues. Luckily, nothing happened during production to have to look at either the contingency plan or health and safety.
  • 6. Time Management When I started my project I kept up to date with everything until my Production Reflection wouldn’t open on my memory stick and needed repairing so I had to buy another memory stick and transfer all my work over. Unfortunately, this happened again with my Pre-Production which meant I had to redo my work. I had made a schedule showing what I was going to be working on throughout the ten weeks I had. I thoroughly went through all the power points to see what I had to do. When it came to the weeks for production I had to really think this through as I didn’t know what product to start first. However, once I had logically thought about it all it came together. I have managed to stick to the schedule which really helped. I have completed my main products and they have been handed in, but there are a some products that haven’t been handed in as they just need to be finished. If I had additional time, I don’t think I would have used it wisely. So in the time I had I made sure I used it sensibly. I made sure I had done most of my power points first and keep to the deadline by doing some work at home or staying at college.
  • 8. Technical Qualities I have picked the same poster that I had analysed in my research which will make the qualities easier as I have already talked about it. Image: They have used three separate images to show the rooms off and also using captions underneath the images to tell their audience what the image is showing. Below the captions they have used more text saying if their audience has any questions then they can ring or email them. I haven’t used any more images on my poster to show the rooms because the image I had was portrait and wouldn’t have looked good with the style. The main image is of the business however you can’t tell which building it is as there are many buildings around. Whereas on my poster, I have used the building itself so the audience could see what it looks like more clearly. I have used the filter gallery on my main image to make it look like someone has drawn it by hand as that was the look I was wanting. They have used the clouds and made the rest of the top bit white which still blends in with the blue underneath. The only shapes I have used on my poster was the two triangles and that was to place text which is the similarity with the other poster apart from using different shapes. Another difference is the Casa Chilhue poster has used a box to advertise to ‘reserve’ a room which I haven’t advertise to reserve. One similarity is they both have contact information at the bottom of the poster which is the key part of the poster as that is what the audience is going to look if they want to book. One more difference between both posters is I’ve used the ‘Accommodation Harrogate’ logo and the other poster doesn’t have a local accommodation logo.
  • 9. Technical Qualities Text & Font: The difference with the text is I have added a stroke and used a different colour on the bottom triangle and on the other poster they have used yellow text in the middle. However, they have changed the colour of the text underneath the boxes so the audience can see the text better as the background is white in that part and they have then carried on with the colour white at the bottom where the box changes to blue. A difference is the font on both of the posters. I have used sans to make the poster look smart and for it to carry on with the font of the text on the green shelter area. Casa Chilhue poster has used sans serif which doesn’t make their poster un-smart. It makes it more causal. Then, when it comes to the yellow text in the middle of the poster which says ‘Welcome to Chile’ is in a different font. Colour Scheme: The colour scheme is different for both. On my poster, I have used more natural colours such as different shades of green whereas the other poster has used more cool colours such as different shades of blue. A similarity is some of the text have both used the colour white. In the triangle at the bottom, the text is different as I have used a stroke.
  • 11. Technical Qualities Image The main image on the ‘Queen Victoria’ leaflet is of Blackpool tower and the beach. They have used a simple design layout for their leaflet. Also, with their design they have used waves that go through the leaflet. This reflects from the ocean in Blackpool. On my leaflet, I used an image is from the front of the client’s business. One similarity from the front of the leaflet is that both have used their local accommodation advertisement to show that they are a part of something. One difference still including the front of the leaflet is the Queen Victoria has used a barcode whereas I have put the ‘TripAdvisor’ logo there to show that this business is on there so people can have a look at the property. Another similarity is they both used a map to show where to go however, on my map I have added little drop points to show where we are and where the train and bus station is. An additional similarity is the ‘how to find us’ area. I have put where to go from the train station as this is the main point of transport except from driving. The very first page of the leaflet I have put the ‘contact us’ there so my audience can directly call or email. On the Queen Victoria leaflet they have used that space to add a ‘what our customers say…’ which is a good idea too. Another difference is my leaflet has the social media logo’s on to show what social media their business is on and the name of it is in the text. An additional difference is on the Queen Victoria leaflet they have added the website address at the bottom of the leaflet and on mine which doesn’t have it but will be on the ‘contact us’ page.
  • 12. Technical Qualities Text & Font For the text on the Queen Victoria leaflet they have used a sans serif font as the headlines and for the text content they have used serif which I personally think looks unprofessional using two different fonts. I have used a sans font throughout my work to keep the consistency of my product and the client’s businesses font they have used. Colour Scheme On both of the leaflets the font and text is very similar. The colour scheme for the Queen Victoria leaflet is white, light blue and dark blue and the colour scheme for my leaflet is just white. I wanted a simple background colour so then I could use the images that I took.
  • 14. Technical Qualities Image Both of the images are very different as the image that I have taken is of food and a building and the other one is a guy sitting on steps. It doesn’t look like the existing product is edited as it looks very natural with the lighting. The main different is the product is portrait and mine is landscape and all similar sizes too. I have used different Instagram edits to make the images darker around the corners. One difference there is the hash tags as on my posts there aren’t any and on the other one there is. Text & Font The text and font is going to be the same for all of these posts as they are social media. The caption on my post is ‘Sublime Sunday Lunch’ which goes with the image nicely. However, one difference is that I didn’t put the hash tags. Colour Scheme On my posts there are multiple different colours going on and on the other post there a few going on such as blue, dark blue and white. These colours are very cooling. My colours are very warm which then links in with the food and the atmosphere on a night in the restaurant.
  • 16. Technical Qualities Image I decided to create a design for a bear to be my client’s business mascot. A simple design on a white t-shirt. When comparing it to the merchandise f10 which t-shirts is bigger and the logo is in the corner of the top. This is a visual place so people can see it. On the bear the logo is centred in the middle of the t-shirt so when I took the photos you could see the design. The main image is of a tree with text above it. Text & Font The font on bear’s t-shirt is sans as this goes with the rest of my work. f10 has used sans serif in a very casual way as the ‘f’ is in lower case and not capitals. They both haven’t used any more text on any more of their products. Colour Scheme The colour scheme is different as I have used white and green and f10 has used black and yellow. The colours that I have used are very natural and f10 is very bold which shows the simplicity that I was going for.
  • 17. Aesthetic Qualities For my poster I wanted the image to be of the front of my client’s business as if it had been drawn on paper. So I used the filter gallery on Photoshop to find the nearest to it. I have added two triangles which I have used the colours from my scheme which are the colours at the bottom. As you can see there is a clear difference between the original image and the edited version. The first difference is the poster has been made smaller so there is less sky. I decided to cover the next house with the triangles so the audience couldn’t see it. The colour scheme goes really well with the image as I’ve chosen natural colours that link in with the image as being edited. I wouldn't change the colour scheme as I think it matches really well and the audience can still see it. I think one strength for the poster is it advertises everything that is needed such as the name of the business, what the business is, the telephone number, the website and the email. A weakness would be to change the fonts on my work as it doesn’t look professional. I have put this as a weakness because this is in my feedback to do so. Personally, I agree with this and I would change the font on the bottom triangle as I think that is the one that looks unprofessional.
  • 18. Aesthetic Qualities My leaflet is full of text and images. I think it has the right amount of information on it for the audience to know where to go in Harrogate. One weakness which is from my feedback and which I also agree with is the fact that the images are very sharp. I think this is one thing that I would improve on by making the images more fun and less sharp by maybe putting them into different shapes. Some aspects that I like on my leaflet are the ‘about us’ because I have used the same tree which is on the mascot for my client’s business and for the rest of my work. I have done this for all my work to have consistency and all link. From my feedback there isn’t any negative feedback for my leaflet which good because it means I don’t have anything to improve on. However, there was one thing missing when I was looking at my leaflet and that is the website link isn’t on here which is needed for people to look at in more depth.
  • 19. Aesthetic Qualities The material was a pillowcase and this is what it has turned into. I have used this bear as the mascot for my client’s business. I have used screen printing for the t- shirt. I have used the same font and tree as the rest of my work. I wouldn’t improve anything for the bear as I think it’s good and serves it purpose which is to advertise. A strength would be it was simple and easy to make. It was also really fun to create and to think of. I don’t think there is any weaknesses to producing this.
  • 20. Aesthetic Qualities These are the main Instagram posts that I came up with. I think these posts catch the eye of my audience as it will make them want to go to this restaurant. From my questionnaire one of the questions was ‘How often do you check social media?’. The responses that I got from this were different. Some people don’t check it all the time and the rest check it all the times. Another question I had put down was ‘Which media gets your attention?’. For this the responses I got back were Instagram or all social media which helps me as I have used Instagram to promote my client’s business. The strengths of this was to advertise the business and I believe it has worked.
  • 21. Audience Appeal My product will appeal to both genders aged 26-36 and the 37+ age range category. I think this age range are more likely to stay in a guest house rather than a hotel as they like the comfort and feel of home. When they have a look at my client’s business they will find out the location of how close it is to the town centre and this is one thing that will appeal to them. The psychographic is achiever/emulator. This group will be the ones who respond to my posts on Instagram. They will get their daily information for what is happening in and around Harrogate. My audience will appeal to my post as in my questionnaire, one of the questions was ‘What attracts you to look at an advert?’. The responses I got from this were mostly the image. So when it comes to my poster, I have used the image of my client’s business for the main image. For my social status, it will be ABC1 because they are middle class people who will be in a place like Harrogate for business or pleasure either way they will need a place to stay. My audience will appeal to my Instagram post as one of the questions from my questionnaire was ‘Which of the following social media networks do you use on a regular basis?’ From this Instagram and the other social media popped up more. As I conducted an interview as well, one of the questions was ‘What’s the biggest mistake you see local businesses making with their digital advertising?’. The response from this I knew that I couldn’t make a mistake whilst advertising digitally otherwise it would have showed that I didn’t read the interview properly. My digital advertising will appeal to my audience as I have made sure I have promoted the name ‘Ash Grove Guest House’ everywhere on my work.
  • 23. Feedback 1 What did you like about the product?  I like the design of the leaflet. There is a consistent theme and design throughout your work, and it looks simple. There is just enough information on it, without being too much. I also like the tree logo which has been used throughout all of your work. Your Instagram photos also look professional. What improvements could have been made to the product?  I think that the poster could look a bit more professional, because the fonts look quite basic. Apart from that all your work is good.
  • 24. Feedback 2 What did you like about the product? I think it has been very well thought out and you’ve covered a large array of different social media websites in order to get the advert to a wider audience. The T-shirt on the bear is a very good idea and it was a good idea to have Harrogate’s entertainment venues on the leaflet. Overall it all looks very professional. What improvements could have been made to the product? You could have checked the grammar and punctuation on the information.
  • 25. Feedback 3 What did you like about the product?  I like how the design/format is very consistent across the series of stuff.  You kept the font consistent.  I feel it is good how you have included many details about the location and such that may be included in professional products. What improvements could have been made to the product?  I feel that the website included was less professional than it could be, this is due to the lack of website on the leaflet and the “http//:” included on the poster.  I do feel that you may be able to include some more graphic design details as many pages of the leaflet seem to be slightly empty and less well presented than they could have been.  I also feel that having all the images just very boxy. Even the logos for the social medias, makes it slightly less professional. As these could be custom or any such designs, and not include such sharp corners.
  • 26. Client’s Feedback 4 What did you like about the product? What improvements could have been made to the product?
  • 27. Peer Feedback Summary What do you agree with from your peer feedback?  From my peer feedback, I agree with everything said. I think that all feedback is good and it means that I can go back and look at the little points that I’ve missed such as the website on the leaflet.  I agree with the fact that the locations are on the leaflet as they are needed on there my audience to look at and see where they want to go.  Another part I agree with the information the leaflet being enough. I didn’t want my audience to read too much and start getting bored and look somewhere else. What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?  I don’t think there is anything I disagree with from my feedback. I think there is enough for me to go back and complete my work in a more professional way for my client to be able to use my advertisement ideas.
  • 28. Peer Feedback Summary What changes would you make to your product based upon your peer feedback and why?  Some changes that came up in the feedback and that I realised myself afterwards is that I haven’t added the website onto the leaflet but it’s on the poster. So when I go back to my work I will add in the website.  Another part I realised was the images of the rooms that I added in are very boxy shaped which makes the leaflet less professional. I will need to change the corners of the images.  Also, from the feedback I clearly just need to check my work again for spelling, punctuation and grammar.  For the poster, I think I might need to change the font and maybe the colour. At the moment my feedback is saying that the font doesn’t look professional enough to work out. So again when I come back to my work to see what I need to change this is one thing I will look at.
