change

than cost savings (i.e. efficiencies)

IT initiatives: application modernization initiative supports the
goal of improving productivity

IT initiatives: cost savings is still important but only as no. 4
priority

IT budgets: will be spent (mostly) by marketing

Cloud
Enterprises are adopting cloud for greater scalability,
convenience and access to latest innovations

Data Center: must be scalable on demand to accommodate the
growing needs of users

Cloud apps: still going strong – industry/use case specific

Cloud providers: they will be acquired by one of 6 giants or fail

Cloud adoption: By 2017, 1 in 5 servers will be in service
provider cloud

Cloud market: For $1 spent on cloud services enablement in
2017, there are $5 spent on cloud delivery

Mobile
Mobile is penetrating every aspect of life including
thermostats and fire alarms

Devices: the user is still in control and expects beautiful devices
that are easy to use and improve quality of life (e.g. Nest)

Mobile: The number of smartphones will double within 4
years

Augmented Reality: not that fast!

Marketing
The marketing job is to very quickly create the right
product for the right target and sell at the maximum price

Marketing: is busy personalizing the user experience

Marketing: the handover to sales never happens; marketing
needs to keep enabling sales and keep customers engaged
throughout the sales cycle

Marketing: product/solution/vertical still the most important role

Corporate Website: still the most important asset?

Storage: As data amounts double every 2 years, cheap &
dense storage is a must

Storage: Object Based Storage grows almost 10x faster than
overall enterprise storage market
