Dear parents
This is our final newsletter of the summer term 2019, although early next
week you will receive a ‘end of term round-up’ of various activities.
We finish school on Tuesday 23rd July having chosen to use our staff
training days regularly throughout the year. The arrangements are:
Dismissal times:
Primary - 12pm
Y7 - 12:50pm
Y8 - 12:50pm
Y9 - 12:45pm
Y10 - 12:45pm
Y12 - 12:05pm
School starts again for all children on Wednesday 4th September, normal
starting time ( primary 8.45am secondary 8.40am). We expect to see
everyone on that day as the summer holiday ends on 3rd September
having enjoyed a six week break.
I am attaching a reminder about uniform. Particularly in the summer term
we see parents and students choosing to deviate from our uniform policy.
Please read this carefully and not only by buying the right items but
ensuring that hair styles and body ornaments (nail varnish, gel nails,
braiding, body art, false eye lashes, makeup etc) are not worn in school.
Thank you.
We will officially welcome new staff in next year’s first newsletter but
parents need to note the following:
 Rachel Kirk will be the new Vice principal (primary) :
kirkr@simonballe.herts.sch.uk
 David Ayres will be the Senior Lead for Sixth Form (before
Ben Morris takes up his post in January)
ayresd@simonballe.herts.sch.uk
 Helen Rhodes will be the Head of Year 7 (in the light of Miss Robin-
son’s maternity leave) rhodesh@simonballe.herts.sch.uk
 Tom Joyce will be Head of Year 8 (in the light of Miss Ahmet’s
maternity leave) joycej@simonballe.herts.sch.uk

So, after another very busy past few weeks with the annual Academic Awards
evening, two concerts, an art exhibition, three sports days and a school fete we need time
to relax and re-energise. What is so wonderful and truly remarkable is to stand back and
amaze at how this is so special as a all-through school.
Slice of Summer
Whilst so much work was put in by the Larch parents, contributions and attendance from
secondary families we managed to raise almost £6,000 which is wonderful!
Academic Awards
Over 200 awards were presented and special praise was given to those students in Years 7
to 13 who received Heads of Year awards.
Concerts
Whilst the @Big Band’ evening was entirely secondary students the amazing ‘Saffron
Sounds’ included Year 3 choirs, string and wind players.
Sports days
We ran two sports afternoons in the Larch centre with our sports leaders running and
organising the events. The secondary sports day was enjoyed by all and it was lovely to see
all out students taking part.
To conclude this academic year of 2018 – 2019, a big thank you to parents for their
incredible support, to staff for the amazing work they do and to our students (from the
youngest to the oldest) for making Simon Balle All-through School such a special
community, learning focused and full of energy.
Wishing you a very happy and safe holiday break.

Primary newsletter 19.07.19

  • 1. Summer term Simon Balle All-through School Newsletter Message from the Headteacher Inside this issue: Message from the headtecaher 1-2 Dates for your diary 3 Dear parents This is our final newsletter of the summer term 2019, although early next week you will receive a ‘end of term round-up’ of various activities. We finish school on Tuesday 23rd July having chosen to use our staff training days regularly throughout the year. The arrangements are: Dismissal times: Primary - 12pm Y7 - 12:50pm Y8 - 12:50pm Y9 - 12:45pm Y10 - 12:45pm Y12 - 12:05pm School starts again for all children on Wednesday 4th September, normal starting time ( primary 8.45am secondary 8.40am). We expect to see everyone on that day as the summer holiday ends on 3rd September having enjoyed a six week break. I am attaching a reminder about uniform. Particularly in the summer term we see parents and students choosing to deviate from our uniform policy. Please read this carefully and not only by buying the right items but ensuring that hair styles and body ornaments (nail varnish, gel nails, braiding, body art, false eye lashes, makeup etc) are not worn in school. Thank you. We will officially welcome new staff in next year’s first newsletter but parents need to note the following:  Rachel Kirk will be the new Vice principal (primary) : kirkr@simonballe.herts.sch.uk  David Ayres will be the Senior Lead for Sixth Form (before Ben Morris takes up his post in January) ayresd@simonballe.herts.sch.uk  Helen Rhodes will be the Head of Year 7 (in the light of Miss Robin- son’s maternity leave) rhodesh@simonballe.herts.sch.uk  Tom Joyce will be Head of Year 8 (in the light of Miss Ahmet’s maternity leave) joycej@simonballe.herts.sch.uk 19/07/2019
  • 2. Page 2 Simon Balle All-through School So, after another very busy past few weeks with the annual Academic Awards evening, two concerts, an art exhibition, three sports days and a school fete we need time to relax and re-energise. What is so wonderful and truly remarkable is to stand back and amaze at how this is so special as a all-through school. Slice of Summer Whilst so much work was put in by the Larch parents, contributions and attendance from secondary families we managed to raise almost £6,000 which is wonderful! Academic Awards Over 200 awards were presented and special praise was given to those students in Years 7 to 13 who received Heads of Year awards. Concerts Whilst the @Big Band’ evening was entirely secondary students the amazing ‘Saffron Sounds’ included Year 3 choirs, string and wind players. Sports days We ran two sports afternoons in the Larch centre with our sports leaders running and organising the events. The secondary sports day was enjoyed by all and it was lovely to see all out students taking part. To conclude this academic year of 2018 – 2019, a big thank you to parents for their incredible support, to staff for the amazing work they do and to our students (from the youngest to the oldest) for making Simon Balle All-through School such a special community, learning focused and full of energy. Wishing you a very happy and safe holiday break.
