Work Experience
FINANCIAL SERVICES CONSULTANT - AIA Singapore - Singapore - Dec 13 to Feb 15
● Provided financial services and advice to individual clients or corporations. The role would involve setting up face to face meetings
with clients so that their financial situation could be better understood and accurate recommendations could be made.
● Participated in road shows, movie nights and other public speaking platforms to advertise company products. Cold clients are often
an important source of business for a financial services company and consultants were required to make presentations during
these events in order to demonstrate the type of value-adding services they could bring to their prospective clients.
● Performed frequent analysis of corporate or personal balance sheets in order to provide accurate advice. Analysis of financial
statements was considered a necessity for both individual clients and corporations, as any investment into the company’s financial
products would normally be drawn from disposable incoming, savings or potentially reduced areas of expenditure.
● Handled unsatisfied clients and dealt with complaints. It is very common for clients to return to the company with products that
have been sold to them many years before. These products might not fit their current financial situation and it is important for
consultants to be able to analyze and rebalance their financial portfolios in order to show them that present financial needs are still
being looked after.
● Worked with senior consultants in order to create and plan events that may help in bringing in more clients for the company. Client
portfolio building tends to be very important for new consultants so they are usually asked to create, plan or join events where
networking is possible.
● Key Achievements within this role:
Succeeded in obtaining health coverage for a 72 year old client who was wealthy enough to afford the premium, but who
had been previously marked by the company as ‘diabetic’ despite the fact that they had no such health issues. The client
initially wanted to lodge a formal complaint against the company, but was persuaded instead to undergo a simple health
screening in order to prove their current medical status. The client was cleared and was happy to do business with the
company.
Created several optimum investment packages to be presented during road-shows that were designed to achieve a better
rate of return than those given by fixed deposits in a bank. Several individual products were combined and their weightings
adjusted until it was shown that the client would benefit more from our products by a margin of at least one percent versus
2. the return from the banks.
Created unique power-point presentation templates in order to more rapidly design and present ideas and
recommendations to clients. This was done because the sales package offered by the company was generic and did not
offer enough information on unique or older products that were considered to be niche recommendations for most
clientele.
UNDERGRADUATE INTERN – China Auto Corporation Ltd - Singapore - Dec 12 to Feb 13
● Assisted in the preparation of various financial statements. The intern was expected to understand the terms used in the financial
statements and to check for any typographical errors or incorrect figures that may have been added during the correction and
revision process.
● Assisted in simple data entry tasks, such as checking invoices and entering the information listed into the system.
● Completed various back office duties. These included simple administrative tasks such as handling calls, delivering mail and
supporting senior staff while they carried out their work.
UNDERGRADUATE INTERN - CJN (SGX Trader) Pte Ltd - Singapore - Dec 11 to Jan 12
● Observed how trading takes place through the interpretation of market movements via live charting programs. The intern was
allowed to read the charts and would make short presentations on how they felt the market was evolving based on technical
analysis and then subsequently on fundamental analysis.
● Observed how traders execute their traders through the use of trading platforms and simple macros created on those platforms.
● Completed various back office duties. These included simple administrative tasks such as photo-copying trading statements,
handling calls, delivering mail and alerting traders if they had urgent emails or calls that required immediate attention.

or sea. Training injuries then led to redeployment as a regimentation and discipline clerk within the 3
rd
Division Artillery
Headquarters where the soldier’s regard for discipline and order was paramount.
● Assisted senior officers in charging delinquent soldiers, while also presenting any mitigating circumstances that might justify a
lighter punishment
● Performed duties outside of the assigned role due to manpower shortages. These duties included: assisting in human resource
matters, induction of new soldiers into the unit and planning and coordination of various unit events.
● Participated in the unit audit and prepared the necessary documents related to the regimentation and discipline role. These
included punishment books, soldier-under-sentence listings as well as a list of any soldiers that had been court-martialed.
