2. Selection
• We chose this topic because the concept of bike sharing is a
growing trend in cities throughout India and World.
3. Purpose
• Determine the feasibility of a YULU bikeshare program in
Navi Mumbai region.
• This region continues to grow and supports the
infrastructure and we realize the importance of providing
transportation alternatives to the traditional single
occupancy vehicle.
• Importance of sustainable communities in regards to air
quality or for the overall health and well-being of the
community.
4. Bike Share Overview
• Short term bicycle rental
• Commonly concentrated in urban settings
• An “as-needed” transportation option
• Operate via unattended stations (i.e. via kiosk)
• Unlock in response to membership keys and or from users
phone using QR code
5. Case Study Analysis
• This study sought to improve the accessibility of bikes to the
user by using GIS (geographic information system).
6. Location
• Less no of stations which forces user to
drop bike away from his destination.
• As a results user prefer to pay fine and
drop the bike where he wants.
• Which makes retrieving of bikes difficult.
8. Population Density
• Higher population density =potential for
greater market demand
• The more use of bikes, within a dense
population, the more visible the
program(if branded with bright colours),
thus the cyclical opportunity for continued
ridership
9. Job Density
• Higher employment density yields
greater access to potential bike share
users.
• CIDCO Bhavan, UTI, BOI etc. are
some of the large offices with
thousands of employees combined.
10. Retail Density
• Bike share users need a
destination, and retail stores
provide a utilitarian purpose for
bicycling
• Retail density needs to be
combined with a safe, visual, and
easily accessible bike route to the
destination
13. Station Location Analysis
• Stations can be placed on public or private property
• The location should also be checked for cell reception and
proper dimensions for the station bike share program chosen
14. Community Surveys
• Its recommended to perform a community wide survey for the
demand for bicycling and bike share, the promotion of the
system, and to analyze the desired placement of station.
