Shiripuno Lodge is a tourist lodge located in the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve in the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest. It provides accommodations and activities that allow guests to experience the extraordinary biodiversity of the Amazon. Guests can take guided hikes, go fishing, birdwatching, and night walks to observe wildlife like caiman. The lodge aims to support the local Huaorani community through employment, transportation, and education. It offers a remote base for experiencing the splendors of the Amazonian jungle.
23. Shiripuno Lodge is a new tourist facility in the Ecuador-
ian Amazon. Its remote location in the pristine tropical rain-

Shiripuno Lodge sits within the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve
a United Nations Reserve, which boasts the highest concen-
tration of floral and faunal species anywhere in the world.
Its biodiversity is due to unique geographic and climate
conditions during the Pleistocene era, which rendered the
area with warmer temperatures than surrounding regions.
Its moderate temperatures allowed plant and animal life to

LODGING
Our cabins, furnished with both single and double beds, accommodate up to three
people in one room. All rooms have private bathrooms and hammocks. No electric-
ity is available; all light is by candle, creating a perfect harmony with the sights and
sounds of the rainforest.

D A Y 0 1 : Quito-Coca by airplane, from Coca We’ll

the motorized canoe down- stream, to reach the

Huaorani Community (Neoneno), where you will have
the oppor- tunity to learn about their traditions and
customs. Lunch. We’ll continue the navigation up-
stream to the bridge where we are going to take
the bus back to Coca (arrival at 17:30 approx.).

26. SHIRIPUNO’S ADVENTURE
6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS
DAY 01: Quito-Coca by airplane. From Coca, we

ride will take approximately 4 hours and you will

DAY 02: Breakfast. We will take a 3 to 4 hour hike
through the primary forest on the Misterioso Trail,
which has a scenic view of the Amazon Basin at 310
meters above sea level. The Huaorani and naturalist
guides will share their knowledge on the biodiver-
sity of the rainforest and the medicinal plants that
local people use. This hike requires that you be in
good physical condition. Lunch. In the afternoon,
we will go piranha fishing on the oxbow lake. Dinner
and lodging in tents.
DAY 03: Breakfast. We take an easy hike to the El
Misterioso Trail, where we are probably to find sev-

Rio Suno Antwren, Ruddy Foliage-gleaner; territories for
Thrush-like Antpitta, Ringed Antpitta, Banded Antbird,
and others, it will keep us busy the entire day as we add
more species to our list. Lunch in the forest.
D A Y 0 5 : Breakfast. Birding along “Skucth Trail” and
