Hinweis der Redaktion

  1. Social learning at work is the act of using social media as learning tools. An example is when we converse via social media with colleges about work topics, latest trends, conventions, news, or problems that people face concerning the same. Professionals learn from other professionals, that what social learning is all about. The difference with the conventional professional training system where the trainer meets the participants in a classroom or work area is that training with social media involves the use of social media as the main tool. Three reasons to adopt the new learning system at work are to meet other professionals in the same rubric, to receive an immediate response to specific questions from a third party, and to learn new ideas. The social learning is at the tips of the fingers of the professional. He or she does not need to wait until the company sends a professional to solve the questioning or train the personnel. The new social learning system makes employees independent learners.
  2. Flaxington stated about ninety-nine percent of successful careers are hinged on the individual’s ability to communicate well, foster mutual relationships, and earn and have respect for others; it’s about interpersonal skills and behaviors. Healthy work relationships are paramount to job satisfaction. In a healthy collaborative environment staff can share their own experiences which will differ from person to person. Building richer relationships among staff with diverse skills requires active learning experiences that break barriers between leadership and their employees. The workplace is full of people with different professional agendas. Diversity among staff sheds light on understanding topics. The learning environment within an organization reinforces the goals and objectives, increases feedback, and allows for collaboration with all employees regardless of their level within the organization. Knowing how to connect with individuals demands a level of awareness that can modify the approach in increasing understanding and communication skills (Flaxington, 2019). Teamwork makes the dream work. Employees with higher skill levels can coach and assist those with lower skill levels to help increase their performance. The more productive the team the more they are likely to stick together to accomplish each task. Fostering richer relationships is about problem solving and strengthening relationships through a willingness and open mind to learn.
  3. Using and practicing these skills can enhance communication which can result in an increase in understanding and staff are motivated (Moseley, 2001-2019. A part of fostering richer relationships requires awareness. Job performance is increased when there is a comprehensive understanding from all staff. Social media usage for social learning allow employees to work together in a variety of ways. All staff are diverse, from demographic backgrounds, educational opportunities, and various levels of skill sets; social learning empowers staff to learn from others, share with others, and build rewarding relationships (Sparta, 2012). The social learning environment fosters rich relationships among staff with diverse skill sets through being open to new ideas, understanding reactions, listening and responding, and being cognizant of the views of others. References: Moseley, E. (2001-2019). Classroom . Retrieved from https://classroom.synonym.com/how-to-apply-diversity-skills-in-out-of-the-workplace-12080061.html Sparta, P. (2012). Getting the most out of social learning: Utilizing social media in the workplace. Development and Learning in Organizations, 26(2), 16-18. doi:http://dx.doi.org/10.1108/14777281211201187
  4. Peer interaction is a way to address problems that arise while using social learning. This is a collaborative effort to cut down the time it will take to address issues in the social learning environments. It entails collaborative discussions with peers.
  5. Peer interaction empowers learners, triggers collaboration and supplements training needs. Discussing and sharing information causes the learner to think outside of the box and see other views concerning the discussions. It allows each person point of view to become central to the learning process. The need for personal training may not always be essential when learners are able to collaborate with those who may have taken on training of the discussions.

Using social media within the workplace for social learning helps learners self-organize, it helps facilitate collaborations and it is applied according to the training needs of the organization. A successful outcome is reached when employees are given the proper resources to perform. Employee performance is measured by assessing their ability to produce. To produce, employees must know and understand the needs of the organization (Bika, n.d.). Organizations rely on stakeholders before developing a project or a plan. Stakeholders are the individuals who are in any way affected by integrating anything new. Time and energy are put into the ideas and visions of the organization and stakeholders are expecting those ideas and visions to come to fruition. Reasonable expectations of employees that cover concerns such as ethical values, quality care, and business concerns are targeted to ensure goals and objectives are reached. Strategies to ensure expectations are met would require establishing the guidelines that govern a successful outcome and setting rules that govern an unsuccessful outcome (Baker, 2019). Successful outcomes can include better performance from employees because they were able to properly use social media as a learning resource for professional guidance. Using social media for social learning contributes to the actions of the employees within the organization. It's how the company can thrive. The company brand is as good as the people that stand with it. Learning together from each other in the workplace is what helps to build relationships with common goals.
