lovely Niamh herself answered them all.Wehave the exclusiveinterview righthere.
What was itliketo perform atthe ReadingFestival last year and how did you feel?
“It was amazing,it was such a thrill to singin front of thousasnds of people, because itwas my firsttime
performing ever at a festival I didn’t know what to expect. It’s kind of a bigdeal especially if your first
perfomance at a festival is atReading. At firstI didn’t know what to expect becausei’ve never done it before
but as soon as I went on stage all of my nerves were gone and everyone enjoyed themselves which was
fantastic.Itis was so surreal knowingthat i’ve performed on a stage where amagin bands likeParamoreand
Arctic Monkeys have.”
Are you excited about your UK Tour in May?
“Of course! This will bemy firsttour ever and I hope everyone who is comingwill enjoy it. But yeah, my tour in
May will besuper fun and there will also besome special guests performingwith me. I can’ttell you who my
special
guest is butI can tell you who will bejoiningme. I am so excited to have George Ezra comingon my UK tour
with me. George is an amazingperson with an extrordinary voiceand I am thrilled to have himtouring with
me”
So Niamh, what influenced you to become a singer?
“Honestly, my parents. They have been great influences for me. I grew up listeningto Madonna,ACDC, Wham!
and ABBA, I always sangwith my parents on car journeys and even around the house. Watchingthese amazing
singers on stage inspired me and made me think ‘I want to do that’ and so I did.”
Who are your musical inspirations?
”Well I firststarted listeningto Arctic Monkeys. Their music made me want to create songs liketheirs,I have
spent hours in my room justlisteningto every songthey have becausethey were my firstactual music
inspirations.I also listened to Ed Sheeran, he was another huge music inspiration to me and he still isnow.
Most recently I have been enjoyingmusic by Bruno Mars and Fall OutBoy.”
Do you have any future tours planned and can you tell us where?
“I do no have any tours planned for the future at the moment but I do have appearances in America that have
een planned for around August which is really excitingbecausei’venever been to America before and it’s
amazingbecause I will bemeeting with some American Management and hopefully discussinga tour in
America so that’s going to be er spectacular haha. It’s quiteover-whelming to know that people in England let
aloneAmerica listen to my songs,I also havemeet and greets planned in between my UK tour and goingto
America where basically I sign things peoplebringto me likebooks, T-shirts and I will also beperforming some
songs and justhavingchats with fans which is super exciting.I am so grateful for all of the opportunities I have
been given and I feel likethe only way I can repay everyone is by meeting as many of my fans as I can so thank
you everyone. Oh, the meet and greets are free entry but you have to sign up for a wristband in order to come
in so keep that in mind.”
What can your fans expect from your UK Tour?
“Well, this is my firsttour and so I intend for it to be one of the best firsttours. My fans can expect a lot of new
songs that I have been working really hard on,there will be lots of special guests and overall itshould bea lot
of fun for everyone. I also somehow managed to persuade the tour manager to let me have giantballoons
being thrown around the crowd and merchandiselikeT-shirts beingthrown into the crowd so that’s pretty
2. exciting.I decided that because i’m goingall around the UK I thought it would be a good idea to make each
show
unique, it should be good and I hope whoever is cominglikes it.”
So Niamh, we understand that you started off on YouTube, that’s impressive, can you tell us aboutthat?
“Haha, yes I did. Well,at firstI juststarted playingsongs on my guitar and then eventually I started singing,I
wasn’t really expectinganything to actually comeof it, the comments were amazingand my friends and family
encouraged me to keep atit becausethey were so amazed by how popular and successful my viedos had
become. It wasn’t until about2 years later when I reached about 2 million views and I was contacted by a
management company tellingme they would loveit if I came to their studio to record a cover song. Itwas on
the radio,on Itunes, I was interviewed on chat shows, radios and itwas so overwhelming. I still pos tvideos on
my channel but obviously notas much because of how busy I am with the tour and doingmeetings and such
but whenever and wherever I can I stil manageto singa song or two and now I even post videos of what I do in
a day so that’s quite fun. It’s amazinghow someone likeme started makingYouTube videos for fun.”
So if you could offer any adviceto people who are likeyou and want to be a singer, what would itbe?
“Well, I would say do what I did and video yourself singingor record yourself si ngingand justupload itto the
internet and keep at itbecause itdoesn’t ust happen, remember to be patient becauseall good things come to
those who wait. Good luck.”
