1. Students of NIMCJ on a dive to Mumbai for Information
and Education about Media
Ahmedabad, 9 November, 2012:-
Recently, National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism had organized
an Educational Trip to Mumbai. The Media organization’s students visit included NDTV
news channel, Sets of Balaji telefilms, Prime focus post production, a public relation firm
AdFactors, Triton communication and Whistling Woods International.
The Resident Editor of NDTV News, Mr Abhishek Sharma explained the students about
news production process, how news is edited and modelled and the use of open studios
nowadays in news channels. The students got to know the process of data uplinking and
various technicalities involved in linking one studio with the other. Mr. Sharma explained
the importance of multi channel journalism as is the vogue in the current era.
Next they visited AdFactors- PR agency, it is considered to be Asia’s largest PR agency
having a dedicated 24*7 Crisis Management cell for all its clients. Ms Vandana Kakar-
Coordinator Training & Quality, explained to the students the importance and role of PR
in today’s media circle. She was able to explain PR through her life experiences in the
field for the past 20 years.
Nimcj student’s got an opportunity to visit the sets of Parichhay, Bade Achhe lagte hai,
……. The serial’s (produced by Balaji Telefilms), here the students got to view the actual
reality of soap opera productions and enjoy meeting the glamorous actors of the said
soaps. Students had a live experience of the on field work activities of a production
house. They even interacted with the serial’s Director, Production Head and lead actor of
the said serials.
Students visit to Prime Focus- largest Post Production house of Bollywood, employing
around 7000 media professionals. Here the students saw the various software’s being
used to polish a film in terms of sequence matching, color correction, sound correction
and video effects for it’s final print release.
Their visit to a media school like Whistling Woods international proved to be fruitful as
they were able to grasp the working of a dedicated film school which is one of its kind in
India. Mr. Shashidhar Nanjundaiah- Director, School of Media & Communication,
communicated with the students of NIMCJ, explaining the importance and utility of a
Media School education.
The next was a visit to Triton Communications- one of the largest Ad Agency serving all
formats of media. Kim Solomon- Executive VP, explained the current trends in
advertising world through the various client briefs his organization had created and
worked with. The creative as well as the HR function of an ad agency helped to
understand the coordination work involved in the creative sector.

providing in depth knowledge and experience of the field where the students would be
landing after their post graduation course. It’s a unique concept which our institution
follows as compared to other educational organizations in the industry”
