3. INTRODUCTION
Our survey was conducted to
analysis the socio-economic
conditions of rickshaw pullers
with objectives to asses the
arrival and previous occupation,
to examine age group, marital
status, educational level,
facilities of rickshaw pullers in
this city.
Data were collected in 18
November from the area of
Dhanmondi by six of our group
members.

7. Challenges Faced By The Rickshaw pullers
Affected by bus.
Unfavorable climatic condition.
Problem of managed road(muddy,
gravel etc.).
Unmanaged parking for rickshaw stand.
Problem of over bargaining between
passengers and rickshaw pullers.
Indifferent attitude for general people.
Sense of biasness.
Competition among the pullers and time
of the day.

We found 60% of them earns 14000tk
who are physically strong, 10% of
them earns 7000tk who are old, 20%
of them earns 10000tk.

Marriage determines the reliability and stability of social life.
Marriage is one of the factors which forced unskilled workers to fill daily needs
of the wife and children as rickshaw pulling provides more easily cash.

11. EDUCATION LEVEL OF RICKSHAW PULLERS
Education level of the rickshaw pullers is very low.
But the rickshaw pullers want that their children do
study.
Some of the young rickshaw pullers are student also
and they bear their educational expense by pulling
rickshaw.

13. CONCLUSION
Total presentation can be concluded as below:
- Young rickshaw pullers earn higher that the older
rickshaw pullers.
Mostly observed working hour is 8 to 10 hours
(63%).
Near about 88% of rickshaw pullers are illiterate
and less than five grade.
70% of the rickshaw pullers are married.
A prominent number of agricultural labourers
(25%) and non worker (20%) convert into rickshaw
puller.
