Run-on Sentence is a sentence that has two or more improperly joined clauses.
Run-on sentence occurs when two separate sentences are joined without any form
of punctuation.
A run-on sentence may be classified into two:
Comma Splice- is a run-on sentence that contains two or more independent clauses
connected by a comma only. It can be corrected by adding an appropriate
coordinating or subordinating conjunction.
Fused Sentence- is a run-on sentence that has missing punctuation marks. It can be
corrected by (1) using a period or a semicolon to separate several ideas; (2) adding
a comma and using an appropriate coordinating conjunction; (3) using an
appropriate subordinating conjunction.
To sum up the discussion, the teacher will ask the following questions.
1. What is a run-on sentence?
2. Cite ways on how to correct a run-on sentence.
3. Why is it important for us to avoid run-on sentences in writing?
DEEPEN
The teacher will facilitate a game called ‘’Jeopardy’’ wherein students are grouped
into 4 groups and are asked to work together to answer the questions that the
teacher will show.
