1. Reflection Diary 1
On Saturday and Sunday I filmed the main story elements of my project (withy help from my dad), on Saturday the first was
filming a circle shot of me looking at a Roman gate from my iPad (it was difficult because there were many people passing and
my dad didn’t point the camera high enough but during the second re-shoot I got a good shot). I then went to Sore Thumbs and
filmed myself in first person entering and exiting the store, the staff were nice enough to let me film their store, use a game as a
prop and film one of the staff members being filmed acting as an NPC and giving me a quest (everything had to be filmed quick
to not mess with their business by holding customers up and not make the staff uncomfortable, the staff member who I filmed to
a while to read the lines and it took a few failed shots but I eventually got the right shot in a short amount of time). On Sunday I
went to the Hilt and filmed myself in first person entering and existing the store, the staff were nice enough to let me film in their
throwing axes and one of them being filmed being an NPC (the guy who I filmed was nice to let me film because he used to be a
creative media student and did a similar project to me, the only problem was many shots of me failing to through an axe but the
staff member saved the footage by doing a good improvised line which made all the shots work).
I was on time throughout the project because I went to the places I needed to film in during the times they were open on clear
days and I was able to film things quickly because of how organised I was. My work looks good so far because I was able to use
the real places for my Geeks and Gamers Guide so this provided a realistic geeks and gamers setting and using real footage of
York made everything look real and convincing. I can improve my project by showing more of the locations in the Geeks and
Gamers Guide to show a more detailed look into the places my target audience can go to instead of using everything as a
backdrop for my project.
