13. About Clinton – Democratic Party
The wife of former President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton was the United States Senator
from New York prior to serving as Secretary of State under President Barrack Obama, an
office she held from 2009 until 2013. The runner-up in the 2008 Democratic primaries, her
candidacy in the 2016 election is her second bid for the presidency.
As soon as Clinton ended her 2008 campaign there was talk of her running again in 2012
or 2016. Speculation picked up sharply after she ended her tenure as Secretary of State in
2013, particularly after she listed her occupation on social media as "TBD".
Anticipating a future run, a "campaign-in-waiting" began to take shape in 2014, including a
large donor network, experienced operatives, the Ready for Hillary and Priorities USA
Action campaign political action committees (PACs), and other campaign infrastructure.
By September 2013, amid continual political and media speculation, Clinton said she was
considering a run but was in no hurry to decide. In late 2013, Clinton told ABC's Barbara
Walters that she would, "look carefully at what I think I can do and make that decision
sometime next year"; and told ABC's Dianne Sawyer in June 2014 that she would, "be on the
way to making a decision before the end of the year".

14. Donald Trump – Republican Party
The 2016 presidential campaign of Donald John Trump, real estate magnate and
television personality, formally launched on June 16, 2015. Donald Trump announced
his candidacy for President of the United States in the 2016 election at the Trump
Tower in New York City with the slogan "Make America Great Again." His campaign
manager is Corey Lewandowski.
In the 2016 Iowa caucus, Trump ranked second out of all the Republican nominees,
garnering 24% of the vote, behind Ted Cruz with 28%. Trump later won the New
Hampshire primary with slightly over 35% of the vote.
On August 21, 2015, the Federal Election Commission released the list of filings from
Super PAC's backing candidates in the 2016 presidential race, which revealed that
Trump is the only major presidential candidate among the GOP candidates who does
not have a Super PAC supporting his candidacy.
On December 21, 2015, Trump attacked Hillary Clinton saying that her bathroom
break during the last Democratic debate was just too "disgusting" to talk about and
then stating she "got schlonged" by Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential race.
Trump responded to critical coverage of these statements by saying the mainstream
media is "dishonest," that the term "schlonged" was not vulgar, and citing a 1984
NPR report in which the term was used to mean "beaten badly.“
