UEFA Euro 2024 Squad Check-in Which team is Top favorite.docx
Midterm Engaging Activities 1.docx
1. Task 1:
Give 5 example of terminology in basketball and explain each terminology.
1. Fast Break- This is an offensive play in basketball where the offensive number of
players is greater than the defensive number of players, therefore the offense dribbles
the ball up court quickly to try to take advantage of a quick score.
Fast breaks tend to be set-up from a good defensive play, such as a steal or block.
When the team gains possession of the ball, say from a steal, more likely than not the
team will pass the ball to one of their smaller and faster guards. The ball-handler then
races up-court, with at least two other wing players to either side of them. Because the
team has rushed up the court, the other team rarely has time to set-up their defense,
therefore giving an advantage to the team on the fast break.
2. Rebound- To gather the ball after a missed shot.
A rebound occurs in basketball when a player gains possession of the basketball after a
missed field goal, three-point field goal, or free throw attempt. The basketball usually
hits off the rim or the backboard before the player gains possession of the ball and is
credited with the rebound. However, a player will not be given credit for a rebound after
gaining possession of the ball after a blocked shot. There are only two different kinds of
rebounds in basketball and they’re called offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds.
3. Dunk- When a player jumps and throws the ball through the hoop from close range.
This is a method of scoring in basketball when a player puts the ball directly in the
basket using one or both of their hands. It pushes the ball up court and throws a
perfect bounce pass who slams it home for two points.
4. Alley-oop- A high arc pass to a teammate in a position near the basket to leap and
score.
when executed well, can be a useful and valuable tool for an offense in basketball,
especially if the team has an athletic front court and skilled point guard. Although an
alley-oop can be performed by any member of the team, this combination is particularly
unique. And this is where one player throws the ball up in the air near the basket and
another offensive player grabs the ball in mid-air and scores, usually with a dunk.
5. Air Ball- The ball misses the hoop and backboard entirely.
2. This is when a shot attempted by an offensive player, that is not blocked by a defender,
fails to at least hit the rim or the backboard. This shot attempt does not reset the shot
clock, as the ball must at least hit the rim. Some air ball rules are confusing to fans. If a
player shoots the ball and misses the rim completely, the ball is considered loose and
no team has clear possession; the player can regain possession of his/her shot without
violation as long as it was an intentional shot. This does not count as a travel or
a double dribble and resets the shot clock.
Task 2:
Draw and label the basketball court. Write the corresponding measurement.
College Court International Court
The three- point line for the NBA is 23.75 ft (7.2 m) from the top of the arc to the center
of the basket. The arc then joins a straight line (not shown) running parallel to the
sidelines, 3 ft (0.9 m) from the sideline.
