Buy Side-Only Trading Summit Monday, February 28, 2011
When was the last time you sat at a table with 10 other buy side traders facing
similar challenges as you? How valuable is it to pick your peer’s brain and
understand how he is playing the market and optimizing the performance of his
trading desk?
TradeTech continues to host the Buy Side-Only Trading Summit each year
because you keep telling us its some of the most valuable time you spend away
from your desk. The interactive nature of this summit coupled with the buy side-
only roundtable discussions ensures you are able to ask those burning questions
you don’t have the answer to yet. You get new ideas and fresh perspectives
from traders trading the same style as you – and remember; only buy side
traders are permitted to attend this summit.
Sponsored By:
WHAT’S NEW AND IMPROVED?
• Roundtable discussions will be grouped into categories based on your firm type so
dialogue is most relevant to your trading style:
o Hedge Funds
o Long-Only Growth Managers
o Long-Only Value Managers
o Plus further breakdown by AUM and international vs. domestic trading
• Smaller tables of around 10 other traders ensures everyone will be involved in the
discussion (and you can hear them!)
• Tables mix up halfway through the day so you gain twice as many profit-
increasing strategies and increase your new network of contacts by double
• Buy side moderators co-moderate with roundtable hosts to ensure the most
critical buy side issues are addressed, instead of vendor pitching. We tried this out
at TradeTech in San Francisco to rave reviews!
11:15 Buy Side Roundtable Discussion #1: Differentiating
Dark Pools To Determine Which Venues Access
Greatest Liquidity
Hosted by:
Bloomberg Tradebook
ITG

Royal Bank of Scotland
How it works:
Take a seat at one of the following tables:
• Hedge Funds
• Long-Only Growth Managers
• Long-Only Value Managers
• Plus further breakdown by AUM and international vs. domestic
trading
A buy side moderator and roundtable host will guide you and your
buy side colleagues through solution-defining discussion on six
key topics. You’ll walk away with a stronger buy side support
network (so you know who to ring when you have a challenge to
overcome!) and countless strategies to increase the profitability of
your trading desk.

Day In My Shoes
The nature of the buy side and sell side relationship has been a
talking point at TradeTech for years. It never goes away because
your relationship is constantly evolving. While the buy and sell side
depend greatly on each other, there is often a big disconnect with the
challenges each side faces trading with each other every day. Here is your
chance to walk a mile in the other side’s shoes. To hear their challenges –
that maybe you contribute to… and to learn how to work together
better as the industry evolves so that everyone can be more profitable.
Make sure to get a good seat, as this debate is not something you will
want to miss!

Peter R. Orszag
Member of President Obama’s Cabinet and Director
Office of Management and Budget, 2009-2010
Peter Orszag is the first member of President Obama’s cabinet to return
to private life, and there is no other person who can provide deeper
insights and insider anecdotes. During his tenure, Congress debated and
enacted the recovery act and the healthcare reform act, among numerous
other pieces of legislation. Dr. Orszag opens the curtain on how these
legislative policies were implemented and their fiscal implications with a
masterful ability to recall, synthesize and humanize economic data.
President Obama sought direction from Dr. Orszag on numerous issues
involving our national economy, including debt, job creation, regulations,
and healthcare spending. There is no other outside speaker who was
closer to the President on the issues of how our nation spends its money
and bolsters its economy. Beyond the white-hot timeliness of his content
or his insider’s perspective, his humorous and engaging delivery brings to
life the stories behind the data and within the White House.
