Proposed Scope of Work
Title:Agricultural Environmental DataStrategy RFP

Objective:The objective of the RFPis to developadatastrategyto ensure reliable,accurate,and
transparentcollection,communicationandinterpretationof informationtoagricultural supplychain
actors to achieve sustainabilityoutcomes accordingtothe followinguse cases:
For environmental community:
o Abilitytosupplyreliable,accurate andtransparentinformationaboutthe farm-,
watershed- andregional- level environmentalbenefitstoassessprogresstowardsEDF’s
goalsand to pushpartnersfor targetedactionsforimprovedoutcomes.
o Accurate,verifiable dataandinformationthatshow progresstowardsthe
elimination/reductiontoabsolute minimumthe environmental impactsfrom
agriculture.
For the endof supplychain:
o Buildcapacityfor companies (retailer,foodprocessors) tohave accessto the
informationtheyneedto demonstrate progresstowardsustainabilitygoalsinamanner
that isaccurate, transparent,andtrackable tothe farmand sourcingarea.
o Abilitytoadaptdemandsof the supplychaintoachieve sustainabilitygoalsaccordingto
trackedprogress.
For the farmer:
o Abilitytotrackand measure the environmental benefits/impactsof theirfarming
practicesfromyear to yearina mannerthat can be usedfor continual improvement,
progressrelative toneighborsandreportingtovoluntarymarkets, compliance markets,
investorsand/orsupplychains.
For consumercommunity:
o Provide the datafor consumerstoassessaccuracy of environmentalclaimsabout
consumergoodsderivedfromagricultural products.
Scope ofWork: Leveragingcurrentknowledge onagriculture,the successful bidderwillbe awardeda
contract to developafive-yearstrategy,withinputfromEDFexperts, toconnectandintegrate data
fromfarm level technologies/systemsthroughmodelsthattranslate thatdataintoenvironmental
outcomes– specifically in-fieldagriculturalpracticeswhichimprove GHGemissions,waterquality,and
waterquantity – at differentgeographicscalesand connecttosupplychainmanagementsystems.These
systemswill helpEDFmeetits2020 goal to improve nutrientefficiencyandsoil healthonhalf of U.S.
corn acres.

describedabove;include atimeline andinterimdeliverables.
BidderExperience and Qualifications: Describe the organization’sexperience:
1. Workingwithfarmersandranchers. Include informationabout the type of operations
(specialtycrop,commoditycrop,etc.)
2. Workingwithfoodcompaniestomeetenvironmental goalsassociatedwiththeirsupply
chain.
3. Creatingorganizational strategiestointegrate informationtechnologyproductsandservices
tiedto organizational outcomes.
4. Workingwithagricultural informationtechnologies andhow those technologiesare
integratedintoenvironmental outcomeswithinthe supplychain. Include specific
informationaboutthe technologyandtype of engagement.
5. Describe anyotherorganizationsinvolvedwiththisproposal.
