 Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in
the Vedic culture of India.
 Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine from India that uses a constitutional

 Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit root words: Ayu, which means Life, and

 The origins of Ayurveda have been traced back to around 5,000 BCE, when
they originated as an oral tradition

Indus Valley Civilization. The first recorded forms of Ayurveda as medical
texts evolved from the Vedas
 There are various legendary accounts of the origin of Ayurveda, e.g. that it

 There are three types of Ayurvedic Body Type – Kapha, Pitta & Vata
 Kapha governs the structure of the body. It is the principle that holds the cells
together and forms the muscle, fat, bone, and sinew. The primary function of

 The Pitta dosha controls digestion, metabolism, and energy production. The
primary function of Pitta is transformation. Those with a predominance of the
Pitta principle have a fiery nature that manifests in both body and mind
 Vata governs movement in the body, the activities of the nervous system, and
the process of elimination
