This year’s budget process is about capitalizing on potential long
left dormant. About realizing that we have an obligation to support
businesses and industry within our community. And making it clear
that their is no alternative to growth.
There is no plan b retirement community we can become, there is
no happy medium that we can simply devolve into.
The council has made strategic decisions to modernize our
community, in order to stop the decay that inaction produces.

Major Objectives2019’s Priority Investments
14. The vision of the Village of Belledune
is to be a welcoming community
that balances the ambitions of businesses &
citizens.
Belledune’s Strategic Vision
Village of Belledune
15. Have Engaged Citizens. None of our ambitions can be realized
without the full and meaningful participation of everyone in this
community.
Objective 1
By setting clear expectations of what we are hoping to achieve
and what success will look like, we can hold each other to
account.
Objective 2
Communicate Effectively. Both within our community and
outside of it. Belledune is a beautiful place with a world of
potential but too often we don’t communicate that message
effectively, or at all.
Objective 3
Operate Effectively. We will look for ways to increase
prosperity and to limit costs on duplication or redundancies.
Investments must be made to serve the greater good of the
community.
Objective 4
OUR VISION
16. Find alignment with the community on common
priorities, values and initiatives.
Objective 5
Play on the same team. Share one unified message
about the past, present and future of Belledune
Objective 6
Support existing Businesses and each other. We need to
be better to each other, the results tell us that our
community is divided and adversarial, we cannot hope to
survive that way.
Objective 7
Retain and Expand our Industrial Tax Base. It’s
simple we cannot afford to let any of it go.
Objective 8
