This document presents a report on the top 100 most engaging politicians on Twitter in India for January 2021, as measured by the analytics company Twitteet. Narendra Modi had the highest engagement with over 80 million, followed by Rahul Gandhi with nearly 26 million engagements. The top 5 spots were all held by BJP politicians, including PM Modi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath, and Sambit Patra. The report provides detailed data on the top engaging politicians from various parties and regions across multiple rankings and metrics to help politicians better understand their Twitter engagement.

Twitter is the default announcement and
interaction medium for politicians in India. The
tweets from politicians create the highest
engagement in India, among all categories.
Some key announcements are communicated
via Twitter by politicians.
We track over 200 politicians on daily basis. We
have been reporting the top 10 engaging
individuals in multiple categories. Politicians
being a special category, We were constantly
getting requests to report Top 100 politicians on
the basis of their engagement.
We have collated data for JAN 2021, and run
multiple analytics for the politician community
and entire ecosystem related to political parties
and their followers to showcase this Top 100

Among Indian Politicians BJP dominated with PM Modi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath and Sambit Patra
taking 4 of the top 5 positions and 7 of the top 10 positions on engagement on Twitter. Congress leader
Rahul Gandhi was at #2 with nearly 2.6 million engagements, followed by UP CM Yogi Adityanath (2.1
million), Home Minister Amit Shah (1.76 million) and party spokesperson Sambit Patra (1.11 million
engagements) at #3, #4, and #5 respectively.
BJP President JP Nadda, Cabinet Minister Piyush Goyal and MP CM Shivraj Chouhan were at 7,8, and #9
respectively. Samajwadi Partyâs Akhilesh Yadav at #6 with 10.8 lakh engagement and and RJDâs Tejashwi
Yadav at # 10 with 5.63 lakh engagements were the only other politicians in the top 10.

followers will obviously get higher
engagement. One way of looking at the
data is to note, a higher engagement on a
lower base. So we took a minimum base of
100,000 engagements, and ranked
politicians on engagement ratio

TOP 10 AS PER ENGAGEMENT RATIO
Engagement ratios of politicians: This is the ratio of total engagement by followers. So in a sense
politicians who engage more actively with their followers. Mumbai BJPâs Kirit Somaiya tops this list,
followed by Yashwant Sinha. Agriculture Minster NS Tomar is at #4 given his pivotal role in handling the
farmers protests.
