Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is the author's role model. He was born in 1931 in India and had a childhood defined by his desire to learn and become a pilot despite struggling financially. He went on to have a notable career working for both the Indian Space Research Organisation and Defence Research and Development Organisation, and received many honors for his scientific work including India's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. The author admires Dr. Kalam for his simplicity, struggle, and contributions towards empowering youth.
