Regulation requirement
• All scaffolding shall be erected and operated
in line with Factories and Machinery Act, Work
of Engineering Construction Safety
Regulations Part X and BS 5973.
• Scaffolding shall be erected by trained and
qualified crew and supervised by the
scaffolding supervisor. No other person will
erect or modify scaffolding.

Safe work Policy for Scaffolding Activity
• All scaffold structure shall be erected with approved material
components.
• Always ensure that all planks used in scaffold constructions are
tightly lashed down, with no loose ends protruding.
• Always examine scaffolding periodically to ensure that no
unnecessary loose items are left on it.
• Swinging scaffolds (i.e., normal scaffolding suspended by manila
rope) shall not be used on site.
• When `dropping’ or suspending scaffolding from `H’ or `I’ beams
always ensure that double clamps are used on the beam - never
single clamps.

INSPECTION
• It shall be the responsibility of the Scaffolding Supervisor to inspect,
record and maintain records of scaffolding and related equipment.
The company retains the right to audit scaffold and equipment
inspection reports.
• Inspections shall be carried out by Scaffold Inspectors who will
either accept the scaffold or reject it and detail deficiencies to be
corrected. In either case, the SCAFFTAG system will be used to
visually indicate the result of inspection.
• Inspections of scaffolds in regular service shall take place every 7
days, i.e. a scaffold approved for use on a Monday must be
reinspected and recertified each subsequent Monday, or
immediately after severe or adverse weather. Both copies of the
SCAFFTAG inserts shall be signed and dated after each inspection.
