Concept of Industrial Relations
 The term “Industrial Relations” comprises two
words:
‘INDUSTRY AND RELATIONS’
 ‘Industry’ refers to any productive activity in which
an individual or group of individuals are engaged.
 ‘Relation’ means the relations that exist in the
industry between the employer and his work force.
 A process by which people and their organization
interact at the place of work to establish the terms
and conditions of the employment.
 Industrial Relations commonly denotes – “
employee-employers relations” in both organized
and unorganized sectors of the economy.
 Industrial relations also known as Labor
Management Relations or Labor Relations.
 Industrial relations also study the laws, rules,
regulations, agreements, customs and traditions as
well as policy framework laid down by the govt. for
co-operation labor and management and defining
rights obligation of both the parties.

1. Improving the economic condition of the labor in
the existing state of industrial management and
