THE GOVERNMENT HAS MADE
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO
THE WAY IT DELIVERS HOMES,
ESTABLISHING ITS ‘HOMES
ENGLAND’ PROGRAM.
3. The initiative was implemented to
deliver innovative solutions to the
long-term housing challenges faced by
UK citizens.
Homes England is a national agency
chaired by Sir Edward Lister. The
organisation works with local authorities
and private companies to accelerate
delivery of new homes where they are
needed most.
Homes England has made major land
acquisitions in Plymouth and Sussex,
as well as forging a £1 billion lending
alliance with Barclays to support smaller
contractors. As Chief Executive Nick
Walkley explains, Homes England
is driving positive market change,
releasing more land to developers to
make a tangible difference, improving
neighbourhoods and growing
communities.
Homes England is sponsored by the UK
Ministry of Housing, Communities and
Local Government. The national agency
employs nearly 750 full-time workers.
The UK government aims to invest more
than £27 billion over the next five years
to support Homes England programs,
unlocking land and delivering innovative
home ownership products like ‘Help to
Buy’.
