I'm a PhD candidate studying Nuclear Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST), working on developing a small liquid fluoride thorium reactor (LFTR) core with a minimum of 5 years between refueling using MCNP5/MCNPX. The initial task in this project was the determination of fuel composition and the reactor configuration that could meet the reactor requirement. The fuel selected was a mixed fluoride salt of Lithium, Beryllium Thorium and Uranium-233. The core is graphite moderated and consists of hexagonal prism as its unit fuel cell. I'm expected to graduate by 2015 /Fall Semester.
