Potential Impact of UDL on Student
              Learning

UDL provides alternatives for learning.
Teachers can treat each student fairly by
making sure that everyone has access to the
curriculum by creating an environment where
all students have a fair chance of succeeding. It
helps to reduce barriers in the curriculum.
Three primary principles guide UDL—and
    provide structure for the Guidelines:

• I. Provide Multiple Means of Representation
     – Perception
     – Language, expressions, and symbols
     – Comprehension
• II. Provide Multiple Means of Action and Expression
     – Physical action
     – Expression and communication
     – Executive function

     – Recruiting interest
     – Sustaining effort and persistence
     – Self-regulation

Brain Research on Learning Differences
Brain research has revealed that the brain works similar to the networks of a
computer. The neurons in the cortex of the brain are linked by approximately 10
trillion connections. These connections help the brain to communicate along
pathways . Below are the three primary networks:
