Why is this Innovation Plan relevant for the CSA in your country?
• Policies, strategies, guidelines for Food and nutrition security are in
place but there is no results-based multi-sectoral coordination.
• Members of the CSA can facilitate the implementation and roll-out of
this coordination mechanism

5. ENABLING FACTORS
What kind of favourable conditions, existing today in your country, can
enable the achievement of this Plan?
• Structure is already existing
• Zimbabwe has various policies and strategies that support this
mechanism; the Food and Nutrition Security Policy, The National
economic blue-print, IYCF policy, National Nutrition strategy etc.
• The SUN convener sits in the President’s office
• Dr. Amai Mugabe is our principle champion who is also an interested
party as a new grandmother who works a lot with children.

What are the short-term objectives that lead you to the expected
changes?
• Improve the coordination of nutrition activities in Zimbabwe through a
deliberate effort from members of ZCSOSUNA.

What strategic actions would be implemented in order to reach these
objectives?
Action 1: Present a position paper to the first lady; Dr. Amai
Action 2: Engagement meetings with the director of the Food and
Nutrition Council
Action 3: Meetings with Ministers of State
Action 4: Appoint 1st lady as champion
Action 5: Facilitate signing of performance contracts at the different
levels; National, Provincial, District, Ward.
Action 6: Refresher training and re-activation of Food and Nutrition
Security Committees.

How are you going to evaluate the results of the Plan and how are you
going to disseminate these results at the national level?
• Review the FNC report on the functionality of Food and Nutrition
Security Committees and conduct a baseline verification exercise to
provide more baseline information on the status of FNSC.
• Monitor action plans, minutes and participation of FNSC’s in budget
processes and surveillance activities.
• Endline assessment to determine gains achieved.
• Disseminate to stakeholders through
– Dissemination meetings at the different levels
– Press conference
– The parliamentary portfolio committee
– The Food and Nutrition Security ZIMASSET cluster
