Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median and Mode
Transcription welcome to the mooc Open eTwinning
1. Welcome to the MOOC “Open eTwinning”, an online course, open and massive organized by
the Spanish eTwinning National Support Service.
My name is Carlos Medina, coordinator of the Spanish NSS.
eTwinning is the biggest European network for teachers, with more than 370,000 registered
users.
This course tries to help you to know and understand all the possibilities that the eTwinning
platform offers, so you can design a quality eTwinning project.
Along the course, we will work basic concepts in eTwinning, we will drive through the life cycle
of a Project, from the starting point to a ready-to-go quality design, making stops in the main
points of the cycle, including principles of Project Based Learning and collaborative work, as
well as the pedagogical use of ICT tools.
We will also focus on the social aspect of eTwinning, not only as a platform to develop
educative projects, but also as a meeting point for teachers, and environment to share ideas
and participate in many different professional development activities.
In the next weeks, we will get familiar with dynamics of the course and will start designing our
Personal Learning Environment for eTwinning.
We will also reproduce the design process of a project, starting out from our own teaching
needs, some good practices and the eTwinning quality criteria. We will also work on the design
of collaborative activities integrated in a project and some highly useful ICT tools.
No doubt, the eTwinning platform is one of our musts. We will manage eTwinning Live, where
you will be able to search for partners for future projects, take part in professional
development events, or participate in groups. We will also visit the TwinSpace, the working
place with your students.
The MOOC poses a dynamic activity plan, with a social focus which fosters collaborative, peer-
to-peer learning. At the end, you will get your digital badge, which can be shown in your own
portfolio and will give evidence of the competences acquired and objectives achieved in this
course.
A MOOC is open to the online community. For this reason, we will use digital environments
like Twitter or Facebook. A weekly news bulletin will also be sent to participants.
We will all learn, debate and develop our ideas together. Let’s open our classrooms and let
eTwinning come in!
