A 2017 research document that adding information on Wikipedia about cities affects tourists’ choices of overnight visits. In particular, adding information to Wikipedia increases overnight visits average by 9% during the tourist season, and the impact comes mostly from improving the shorter and incomplete pages in Wikipedia. The talk will present projects conducted in Trentino, South Tyrol and Insubric area within Wikimedia projects with the aim of community building and territorial development. In particular, we will present the following projects: - edit-a-thons in museums and rural areas of the province of Trento - uploading of 3D images of the province of Bolzano (in collaboration with IDM Südtirol) -“Sui passi di Carlo Amoretti”, a modern rediscovery of the places told in a book from 1800s

On July 28th 2018, we organized a wiki event in Fersental
in cooperation with the Bersntoler Kulturinstitut.
Morning: visit to a traditional farm (now an ethnological museum)
Afternoon: work on Wikimedia projects with the museum operators

Wikisource, the free library of Wikimedia projects
We built a positive cooperation with the Insubric
local group of volunteers and Wikimedia CH
The project includes an event for each chapter of
the book (XXVI), both in Italy and Switzerland
