The document discusses various styles of traditional belt wrestling from around the world and efforts to promote and standardize and globalize belt wrestling. It outlines the establishment of the International Federation of Wrestling on Belts Alysh in 2002 to preserve belt wrestling traditions and promote the sport globally. It also discusses the development of belt wrestling in both amateur and professional divisions. More recently, there have been efforts to unify the rules for different belt wrestling styles and create an international calendar of belt wrestling events from 2014-2015.

3. Introduction
Many nations have their national wrestling, which traditions, skills
and techniques have been passed from generation to generation.
Each kind of wrestling is very unique and peculiar, but at the same
time it does have something in common, for instance, belts that are
required for a fight.

5. BELT WRESTLING
Belt Wrestling Alysh has been developed in two main directions
that are professional sports and amateurs sports (or sports for all).
Professional sports, now is developed
together with FILA, since June, 2008,
when IFWBA joined FILA as one of its
Committees and is called World Belt
Wrestling Committee Alysh
(WBWCA). Certainly, World and
Continental championships,
International tournaments, World Cups,
anti-doping requirements etc. are
inseparable part of national wrestling in
professional sports.

6. BELT WRESTLING
Nevertheless, professional athletes
are like a drop in the ocean among
numerous amateurs in belt
wrestling. Since national wrestling
traditionally were and are practiced
in the villages, during various
festivals, f. e. harvest-home usually
started from the fight of wrestlers
that were awarded by a horse, ram
or a special winner-belt (no
medals).
