The board was updated on a pilot study of an after-school sports program involving 181 students in grades 3-5 across two school districts. Students in intervention schools participated in organized skill-building activities in soccer, tennis, track and field or volleyball, while control schools had regular after-school programming. Results showed improvements in skills, fitness, and behavior for students in the intervention schools compared to controls. Parents also reported benefits like increased social skills, fitness, time spent with family, and involvement in their child's education.
