2. Company Sought to Simplify Application Environment with SAP ERP Upgrade
Scientific Atlanta sought to upgrade its SAP ERP platform from SAP 4.6C to Unicode-enabled
ECC 6.0, as SAP would no longer be supporting 4.7 and earlier version. Their application
environment had grown increasingly complex something they could simplify once they were on
SAP ERP 6.0 NetWeaver architecture. However, the company needed to ensure an efficient
upgrade process to minimize project duration and costs. Understanding the resources required
for this kind of upgrade, the potential disruptions and risks involved and whether a Functional
or Technical upgrade would be the best solution for their business needs was essential.
YASH Technologies was selected as Scientific Atlanta's partner for this initiative, based on their
past experience, consultative roadmap approach, and use of accelerator tool
Scientific Atlanta Saved 30% in Project Costs by Utilizing PathFinder
YASH began the upgrade process by utilizing PathFinder, YASH's pre-upgrade assessment tool.
PathFinder was able to mitigate unforeseen risks, road map fixes, speed the upgrade
implementation cycle. By leveraging PathFinder as the pre-assessment tool, Scientific Atlanta
saved approximately 30% of project costs. PathFinder evaluated how complex the “as-is”
system differed from the “to-be” system, and reduced the time, cost, and complexity of a
manual system analysis. In addition, YASH determined the amount of custom code with
Scientific Atlanta's current system and how smoothly it would migrate to the target landscape.
PathFinder provided precision details, down to the line number or code that needed to be
changed, for deeper, more thorough impact analysis.
As a result, more than 3000 outdated function modules were deleted from the system,
significantly reducing the scope of the upgrade. Additional assessment information provided
by PathFinder included:
