(most info is out of date)
The concept of a major equestrian centre was first
recorded as an idea mooted by Tom Roberts on his
return from Weedon (late 1940’s).
Many attempts have been made by organisations,
including Horse SA, to get projects off the ground.
Horse SA’s last attempt was through the now past
Area Consultative Committee- Infrastructure
Australia model
Perhaps “timing” is everything.
5. A few notes:
1. There is room in SA for a number of upgrades
or new developments as it relates to facilities,
across multiple regions
2. Dedicated facilities will need to have identified
a ‘bread and butter’ income source, which
supports /subsidizes non-profit club use
3. For any public facility that requires input of
government funds (i.e. not 100% private
investment) it is essential for a unified
approach to be a continuously demonstrated
4. Our equine future will need us to ‘think
outside of the square’ & refresh our approach
5. The business modelling will determine a range
of factors, including management models
6. We can have great facilities, and develop niche
market opportunities to grow our future.
