To Whom It May Concern:
This letter of commendation is written on behalf of Ryan Tingey, who served under my leadership on the Dupont
Sabine River Works campus at Orange, Texas. Ryan’s primary role was BIM Engineer and his secondary role was
Assistant Project Engineer on two concurrent projects for DuPont ($13M Laboratory Project consisting of 33,000 sf
and the $12M Maintenance Building consisting of 55,000 sf). He took the lead on design coordination, RFIs,
submittals, information management, and closeout for both buildings.
Throughout his assignment on these projects, he exhibited a great work-ethic, high moral values and integrity. He
brought to the team valuable expertise in BIM technology, quickly became adept in the functions of a Project
Engineer, and gained an understanding of risk management measures to preserve the key performance indicators
(safety, quality, cost and schedule).
His committal to support the project team was evident by his flexibility as he rearranged his personal schedule to
accommodate the needs of the project. Whetherworking extended hours and even weekends, Ryan could always be
counted on to meet his commitments to our client and subcontractors.
The quality of his work was exemplary as he actively pursued opportunities to make contributions to the team;
which often exceeded the scope of his responsibilities. In addition to his responsibilities in engineering, Ryan
supported sales pursuits and marketing efforts of the Business Unit. Specifically recruited by the General Manager,
Operations Manager, and Business Development Manager, Ryan supported sales pursuits by developing 3-D
logistics models and delivering presentations at many interviews with potential clients. In spite of the many demands
for this ancillary support,Ryan was careful to never neglect his responsibilities to our project team.
His experience in 3-D modeling has equipped him to visualize the project with much greater clarity than peers with
similar tenure in the field. He thinks outside the box and has found unique solutions to match the many demands of
the job. He finds ways to improve standard processes; forexample, on a project for British Petroleum (BP), he
developed a process that resulted in the full MEPF coordination of a 30,000 SF commercial office space from
scratch in just 4 days.
Ryan’s reputation has garnered the attention of business units in multiple regions of the company, most notably,he
has been tasked to teach training sessions for BIM and provide direct support for multiple high-dollar projects
around the country. He enjoys sharing insights related to BIM techniques and understands howto articulate the
benefits and methods to recent staff recruits as well as executive mangers. He consistently exceeds expectations of
the teams he supports.
Turner’s Houston Business Unit has benefited greatly by having Ryan’s support. As I consider his transfer to
Denver, I am reassured that our company will retain his talent, but the Houston office will struggle to find a suitable
replacement with his skillset, work ethic and character. As the Project Manager of the DuPont projects, I
recommend Ryan for promotion to Level 3 in 2013. While I understand this decision will lie with the Denver
Business Unit, I would be happy to submit such a well-deserved recommendation, if he were to remain in Houston.
Very Truly Yours,
Michael Murphy
