STATEMENT
I am a hardworking, highly motivated, and competent man who has developed
a passion for working with young people of all backgrounds and ages. I have
always found myself drawn towards supporting, motivating and challenging
young people to not only achieve their full potential but more importantly
become compassionate and caring members of society.
EXPERIENCE
Assistant Director of Sixth Form July 2012 – Present
St. Ignatius College
Turkey Street, Enfield, London EN1
My initial year at this school was spent as Business Studies teacher and Year 8
Form Tutor. Within my first year of becoming a qualified teacher I was
appointed to the position of Assistant Director of Sixth Form, and in this
capacity my main focus is the pastoral care of all sixth form students with a
key responsibility over attendance and punctuality. My current role has
required me to develop, implement and monitor various interventions in
order to improve the academic attainment of students.
Learning Mentor
Brampton Primary School
Masterman Road, East Ham, London E6
Jan 2009 – Aug 2011
My work as a Mentor required me to work closely with parents, children,
teachers and outside agencies in order to best support the child in
overcoming their barriers to learning. My work involved running social skills
groups, in-class one to one support, and preparing year 6 children with their
transition from primary to secondary school.
Chance Practitioner
Newham Youth Offending Team
192 Cumberland Road, Plaistow, London E13
Aug 2008 – Dec 2008
After university, I volunteered and then worked at the Newham Youth
Offending Team (YOT) as a Chance Practitioner. In this position, I worked as
part of a team that organised and ran positive behaviour groups and Knife
Talk presentations in schools, youth centres and at the YOT building aimed at
young people aged 11-19.
Temporary Office Administrator

Hobbies & Interests
For extra-curricular activities I enjoy
playing my saxophone and listening to
different genres of music. I have
performed as part of a trio on many
occasions at church services and
occasionally as a solo artiste.
I am a very active person who enjoys
playing football, early-morning runs,
and weight training. In 2011, I
coached the Brampton Primary School
to the Newham Primary Football
Championship and received
recognition for my efforts in the local
newspaper. Being a member of the
Pathfinders has given me the
opportunity to do some of my most
loved activities, which includes
travelling to different countries,
meeting new people, and
experiencing different cultures.

Working for a retail company has resulted in me having the ability to work
under extreme pressure. I also have excellent communication skills, which I
rely upon daily when interacting with customers and colleagues.
Voluntary Work
From January to y 2008, I was a voluntary youth worker with the Youth
Offending Team in Newham. During this time I gained a foundation
qualification in Youth Crime Prevention from the Youth Justice Board. As a
volunteer I was able to gain practical experience in conflict resolution, risk
management and most importantly I strengthened my ability to effectively
communicate and engage with people from a variety of backgrounds,
including victims of crime and offenders.
In 2004 and 2005, I did some voluntary work for the Melchizedek Women's
Project, where I gave motivational speeches to groups of year 10 students on
the benefits of education. I thoroughly enjoyed this as it gave me the
opportunity to encourage other young people to reach their full potential as
well as giving the students the chance to talk to someone closer to their age
about their goals.
In 2003, I was voted as President of a youth project in my church called Life
Skills. As President of Life Skills I enjoyed the opportunity of working closely
with a committee of fellow young people. As head of this committee I
arranged meetings, delegated responsibilities, organised fundraising events,
and planned a graduation ceremony, in which 21 young people successfully
graduated the Life Skills project.
