2. Research and Planning
From my research and planning stages of the coursework I
undertook audience research in order to obtain information about
the demographic and psychographic of my target audience, this
would allow me to craft a product suitable for my audience using all
aspects that I found they liked and disliked about action films.
By showing my audience similar products I was able to get
feedback on professional products that I could then utilise to my
advantage and incorporate their thoughts into my own work. For
example I showed the trailer for Non Stop and found the use of fast
paced editing in action film trailers was something that was liked by
the audience, thus allowing me to use this to make my trailer similar
in this regard.
3. Research and Planning
From audience research and genre research I was able to produce
a script and storyboard that would be suitable for the genre as well
as the preferences of the audience I targeted. I learned from
feedback on my script that it had a good narrative but was very
cliché to action films. From this feedback I decided to alter it to
make it more original as well as keeping it to a standard that
conforms to the genre.
4. Production
During the time I was making my trailer and
ancillary products I sent out questionnaires
based on the current product and asked what
the audience liked and disliked about the
product so that I could alter it accordingly. This
allowed me to learn that the editing techniques
that I used were not appealing to the audience,
thus allowing me to change it to a better
standard.
I did the same for my ancillary products, I
showed my audience professional products
alongside my own and asked my audience to
identify similarities and differences and what
they like or disliked about my products. Again
this allowed me to change them so that they
would be more appealing to my audience and
make for a more effective product.
5. What I learned from audience
feedback?
From my audience feedback I was able to learn what the
preferences of my audience were, which I then created an
audience profile based on these results. This allowed me to create a
product that appealed to them and also make a product that was
similar to an existing professional product.
From my audience feedback I was able to learn what in particular
about my products the audience liked and disliked which allowed
me to change them so that they would be more appealing to the
audience and thus be more effective.
