2. INNOVATION DESCRIPTION
• Gulayan sa Paaralan is one of the most important project of the
school for its teaches the students to become self – reliant.
However, because of the pandemics students are not allowed to
be in school and the cultivated goal of Gulayan sa Paaralan
become stagnant. It is therefore, the proponent challenge to bring
Gulayan sa Paaralan to home/backyard gardening to continually
teach them the importance of having a backyard vegetable
garden and how to cultivate plants to sustain food security, good
nutrition and additional income and livelihood opportunities to
NISians learners and family.

3. • This project emphasize the different ways of home gardening
(container gardening, tire gardening, vertical gardening, urban
gardening, backyard gardening and etc.) to promote the
sustainability of Gulayan sa Paaralan which is also one of objectives of
the school program.
• One way to implement this program is to encourage our learners,
parents and also the community to have the backyard gardening
using waste materials/recyclable like plastics bottles, sacks, tire and
etc. to come up with a productive and bountiful harvest of vegetable
crops that they can use as their source of food and livelihood in this
time of pandemic.
