The Grade 12 class of 2011 at Southern Cross Schools achieved a 100% pass rate on their final IEB examinations. The class of 10 students performed better than expected, with 6 achieving a Bachelors pass and 4 a Diploma pass. Shannon Thomson achieved the top results, including two A symbols. The Headmaster congratulates the students and teachers on this outstanding achievement, and hopes it will establish a path of academic excellence for future classes.

Dear SCS Parents
FINAL GRADE 12 EXAMINATION RESULTS
It is with genuine excitement and a good deal of pride that I am able to inform you that our Grade
12 Class of 2011 achieved a 100% pass rate in the final IEB examinations.
Our first Grade 12 class at Southern Cross Schools consisted of ten learners. Throughout the
year the spotlight has understandably been on this class and their teachers regarding their
academic progress. Having our first Grade 12 class at Southern Cross has been a huge step in the
growth and development of the school. The fact that this class has now achieved a 100% pass rate
makes this an enormous event in the history of the school and we congratulate them and their
teachers on this outstanding achievement.
It is equally pleasing to report that the class, as a whole, has done significantly better than was
expected when considering their September Preliminary Examination results. All ten Grade 12s
have achieved results that will allow them entry to a university or a university of technology to
pursue tertiary studies. Six of the ten achieved a Bachelors Degree level pass and the other four
managed a Diploma level pass. Between them the class achieved eight subject A-symbols, six
subject B-symbols and twenty subject C-symbols.
Shannon Thomson achieved the top results in the group with two As (one of which was 91% for
Mathematical Literacy), two Bs and three Cs. The top three positions in the grade were filled by:
Shannon Thomson – 1st; Katelynd Strong – 2nd and Precious Ratshana – 3rd.
The Grade 12 Class of 2011 has produced a very solid academic foundation on which future
Grade 12 classes will be expected to build and improve. A clear path of academic excellence has
been embarked upon and we look forward to great things from our learners in the years that lie
ahead.
On this very positive note, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a fabulously
successful 2012. I look forward to seeing you soon as we share in the development of this most
