Colonial Leader: John White By Cody Pierce
John White was born in 1540 and died in 1593. He was known as a famous artist in England. People described him as a “Gentleman of London.” After founding the Roanoke settlement he become the governor of Roanoke. He then left for England but later came back to find that the settlement was empty. John White
John White and Sir Walter Raleigh were one of the first to step foot on this land from England J. White made some of his most famous paintings here Several groups tried to establish a colony on Roanoke but abandoned the area or disappeared The last group was there for at 3yrs without supplies from England but later disappeared This colony is known as “The Lost Colony” Roanoke Island
John’s Beliefs Freedom of religion New art
His contribution Traveled with Richard Greenville on the first voyage Helped establish Roanoke Traveled back a 2nd with supplies
