2. First Stop!
The Museum
The animals in the museum once lived
in the fields, woods, marshes and ponds
of New York State! But they are no longer
alive.
5. If you like bones,
there are lots of
them here...mostly
from deer. My fox
relatives often chew
on bones...but I don’t
think humans do that
so much...
But I do know that
many humans like
to eat this Bird!
6. I think this is the most interesting
animal here...The Fox! You might
be surprised to know there are both
Red and Gray foxes. And the Gray fox can climb TREES!
7. Many people think this is a fox, but it is not.
Do you know what animal it is?
Many of them live right in Rochester, but
no one ever sees them...they are very
secretive.
8. This is inside the museum... be sure and look
at the ceiling.
It isn’t very big and you will only be here for
a short part of your trip!
9. Second Stop!
The Woodland Trail
Everyone will walk here, but only the Wood’s group
will take photos. Please, no more than 8 !!!!! each.
10. These animals live in our woods. Which
ones do you think we might see?
Which ones do you think we might hear?
11. We use our eyes to explore the outdoors,
but also our Ears.
During our walks...the teacher/leaders will
Toot a Whistle for Listening time....
Everyone will Listen for 30 seconds.
Try this in your classroom.
What do you hear?
What do you think you’ll hear
outdoors???
12. Third Stop!
The Field!
My favorite
site...I find much
food here...
mice, rodents,
birds....also
fruits, berries and grasses!
I know you probably don’t want to share my meal, but
you will eat your lunch here...the one from your school.
Also, the Field photographers will take pictures here.
Remember only 8!!!!
13. If you look hard, you might
see some of this wildlife...
or hear it!
14.
15. Fourth Stop
The Marsh
This might be your favorite
site because you will get to
walk over it on a long wooden
bridge
16. A marsh is the wetland that is next
to dry land and often wetter land like
a pond.
Pond
17. Lots of big and little animals live in and around a
marsh... The big tall plants on the side are
cattails? They are good for the marsh...their
roots help keep the water clean.
18. The Marsh Photographers will
take their pictures here.
And please, no more than _??___
Pictures.
Marsh
Pond
Can you guess
where the last
stop will be???
20. Two weeks ago
these Geese had
a nest here...I don’t
know if their eggs
hatched... my fox
relatives especially
enjoy baby geese...
But Geese are smart
and build their nest near
water so when the babies
hatch they can swim to safety.
I guess you could say that usually they Outfox the Foxes
21.
22. Ponds have big and
little wild life. What
wild life do you think
you might see here?
Reminder:
Here the last group
of photographers
will take their photos.
Remember, please
