WORK EXPERIENCE
Business Systems Analyst
BC Pension Corporation 2002 to September 2015
Employed as a Business Systems Analyst with the Information Technology Branch of the BC
Pension Corporation, I was part of a team dedicated to supporting the Pension Corporation
administration and web portal systems. My responsibilities included providing systems analysis
and technical support to maintenance and enhancement of the Integrated Pension Administration
System (IPAS), a pension actuarial calculation and pre-retirement administrative processing
system.
My duties included:
o Analyzing, developing and documenting functional and technical system solutions;
o Gathering and documenting requirements from business area representatives;
o Analyzing and designing pension system calculation and processing functional and
recommending technical enhancements;
o Analyzing and designing pension web site functional and technical solutions;
o Planning and leading small to medium complexity projects;
o Leading and participating in facilitation design sessions and presentations;
o Reporting project status;
o Writing SQL queries, analyses and reports using PL/SQL Developer to troubleshoot,
analyze and report data and processing issues;
o Configuring technical products, e.g. Webtrends Analytics, including integration with
pensionsbc.ca portal environment and IPAS system;

Participating on a team of four senior IT professionals, I lead the development and implementation
of the Student Financial Assistance System (SFAS) for the Student Services Branch.
My primary responsibilities included:
o Provided leadership and guidance to the project team;
o Reported project status to and implementing recommendations from the SFAS Project

o Conducted project status communication and presentation sessions at post secondary

DMR Group Inc.
Employed by DMR Group in Victoria, I participated in a variety of consulting assignments.
My primary responsibilities included:
o Logical and functional architecture and design;
o Data and process modeling;
o Joint application design;
o Functional requirements definition and documentation; and
o Application development and implementation.
I employed the DMR Productivity Plus system development lifecycle methodology in the delivery
of multiple assignments at a number of ministries. Assignments included:

and functional requirements design, with subsequent COGNOS Power-Designer process
and data modeling;
o Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources – Mineral Titles system logical design;

Senior Programmer Analyst 1987 to 1989
CANRON Inc. Montreal, Quebec
For this manufacturing and distribution company I fulfilled roles covering systems analysis,
design, development, installation and technical support of a variety of business systems including
online order entry and sales management through sales tracking and reporting.
The tools employed by myself at Canron were VAX/VMS DCL, COBOL, RMS indexed
sequential files, CMS, CDDL, DATATRIEVE, and VAX System-Services. VAX-FMS was
used for prototyping. Diagramming tools on the Macintosh were used to generate data flow
diagrams, hierarchical tree structured diagrams, and detailed procedural logic diagrams.
Programmer Analyst 1986 to 1987
The Montreal Gazette, Montreal, Quebec
Participated as programmer analyst in the design and programming of the Gazette Advertising
and Billing System. This was in a VAX/VMS environment using DCL, COBOL, FMS/TDMS,
RMS, CDDL and DATATRIEVE. My programming efforts focused on the Advertisement
Order Entry application.

Participating on a team of four senior IT professionals, I lead the development and implementation of the Student Financial Assistance System (SFAS) for the Student Services Branch. My primary responsibilities included: o Provided leadership and guidance to the project team; o Reported project status to and implementing recommendations from the SFAS Project Steering Committee; o Conducted project status communication and presentation sessions at post secondary institutions; o Designed and implemented the SFAS VMS/RDB database schema; and o Developed and implemented the SFAS award assessment subsystem.

Employed by DMR Group in Victoria, I participated in a variety of consulting assignments. My primary responsibilities included: o Logical and functional architecture and design; o Data and process modeling; o Joint application design; o Functional requirements definition and documentation; and o Application development and implementation. I employed the DMR Productivity Plus system development lifecycle methodology in the delivery of multiple assignments at a number of ministries. Assignments included: o Advanced Education – Student Financial Assistance System (SFAS) preliminary analysis and functional requirements design, with subsequent COGNOS Power-Designer process and data modeling; o Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources – Mineral Titles system logical design; o Liquor Licensing and Control – System logical design; o Loans Administration Branch – Delinquent Loans system logical design; o Transportation and Highways – Macintosh reporting support prototype; o Ministry of Environment – GIS & VMS/RDB integration prototype; and o Postal Services Branch – Oracle DB & Forms system prototype. Montreal, Quebec For this manufacturing and distribution company I fulfilled roles covering systems analysis, design, development, installation and technical support of a variety of business systems including online order entry and sales management through sales tracking and reporting. The tools employed by myself at Canron were VAX/VMS DCL, COBOL, RMS indexed sequential files, CMS, CDDL, DATATRIEVE, and VAX System-Services. VAX-FMS was used for prototyping. Diagramming tools on the Macintosh were used to generate data flow diagrams, hierarchical tree structured diagrams, and detailed procedural logic diagrams. Programmer Analyst 1986 to 1987 The Montreal Gazette, Montreal, Quebec Participated as programmer analyst in the design and programming of the Gazette Advertising and Billing System. This was in a VAX/VMS environment using DCL, COBOL, FMS/TDMS, RMS, CDDL and DATATRIEVE. My programming efforts focused on the Advertisement Order Entry application.

In a WANG VS-100 installation, I performed data backups, system startup and shutdown procedures, production of delay reports and monitoring of communication lines.
