The study was carried out at the University of British Columbia’s in the undergraduate engineering college in a second semester course in calculus based physics, studying electricity and magnetism. 850 students were in the course and divided into three sections. Each section had 3 hours of lecture a week (in a big lecture hall), weekly homework assignments, lab sessions, tutorial groups and two midterms and a final. Everything was common across all sections except for the lecturer.

Nearpod http://www.nearpod.com
This is a web-based resource that allows you to create presentations. The teacher starts the presentation and the learners can follow along with the presenter on their Android, iOS, or Windows device.
Nearpod syncs with the tablets or smartphones of your audience so that they can watch the slides on their device. The presenter can also imbed quizzes, polls, drawings (the learner has to draw something). The answers are collated and downloadable for reporting purposes.
The service also has a “homework” mode that allows your learners to watch the presentation anytime, and anywhere. With the embedded quizzes the instructor can ensure that the presentations were watched.
This service is by subscription. The Gold, School, and District plans also provide the ability to imbed audio, PDF documents, and attach a Twitter stream. For small classrooms of less then 30 students the free Silver account is probably all you need.
Nearpod also has a large collection of premade lectures, and allows the users to share their content. This could be an excellent way for residency programs to share their Core Content material, and have outside speakers bring a little variety to other programs.
The students first study the topic by themselves
In class students apply the knowledge by solving problems and doing practical work.
The teacher, and other students, tutor the students who are stuck, rather than imparting teaching.
The teacher is more a coach then a lecturer
Assigned readings with focusing questions
Video presentations
PowerPoint Presentations with voice overlays
