engineering, site design and construction consulting and testing firm with
over 120 years of experience
• Over 2,300 employees in 85 offices nationwide

Setting the Stage

PSI had an antiquated, custom developed Intranet site called PIER. It was
to difficult to maintain or use, so employees invented various workarounds
• Example: Since users couldn’t search to find documents, department
admins would put links to files in Word documents and users would use
Word instead of PIER
• Example: Since new hires couldn’t find anything on PIER, other
employees would send them old outdated copies of forms causing
confusion and rework
