QUALITY MANAGEMENT IS AN ATTEMPT TO
MANAGE ALL THE ASPECTS OF
ORGANIZATION TO EXCEL IN ALL
DIMENSIONS WHICH ARE IMPORTANT FOR
CONSUMER.
Edward Demming(1900-1993)
According to demming, quality is
uniformity and dependability
He gave 14 different points to manage
the quality.

1. Create a constant purpose towards
improvement
 Plan for long term quality
 Don’t go towards short term solution
 Find better things to do
 Research and development
2. Adopt new philosophy
Quality through organization
Costumers should be priority
Be prepared for a major change
Create a quality vision and implement it.
3.Stop depending on inspections.
 Inspections are costly and reliable
 Shows lack of quality
 Build a quality in process from start to end
 Don’t find the wrongs eliminate the wrongs
 Physical inspections alone can’t do the better
4.Use a single supplier for one item
 Quality relies on consistency
 Less variation in input, less is the variation in
output
 Use quality statistics
 Analyze the total cost
5.Improve constantly & forever
 Emphasize education
 KAIZEN improve
 Productivity
 Effectiveness
 safety

 Foundation of common knowledge
 Encourage staff to learn from one another
 Effective team work
 Develop leaders not boss
