Documented efforts to enhance the development of children, especially to remediate the consequences of deprivation, have taken place since the early nineteenth century, when researchers learned that certain types of early experience were essential for the emergence of high intellectual functioning. More recently, studies of children in orphanages in the 1950s and 1960s initiated the investigation of what young children need to ensure healthy growth and development. Abstract: Children’s physical activity performance levels vary by provisions and quality of outdoor areas despite this; many pre-schools do little to create the kind of outdoor environment and experiences that are important for young children. The study therefore aimed to finding out the implication of outdoor environment on children’s physical activity level. The study was based on Descriptive survey design. It involved; 44 primary school head teachers, 44 pre-school lead teachers and 309 final pre-school class pupils (88% 88% and 19% of the study population respectively), selected using cluster, purposive and simple random sampling design respectively. Data was collected using questionnaires, interview schedule and Observation checklist. The major findings included that there was a relatively weak relationship between the availability, adequacy, effectiveness and site of various components of outdoor environment in ECDE centres and the ability of preschool children’s ability to Performing various loco-motor activities and Rhythmic Movement Activities. The results from observation and interview schedules indicated that a rich outdoor environment had a positive influence on preschool children‘s development of various skills. The study recommends that the government and other stakeholders need to invest in the provision of outdoors so as to enhance children’s physical activity levels.

There is an urgent need for effective, sustainable child obesity prevention strategies. Progress toward this goal requires strengthening current approaches to add a component that addresses pregnancy onward. Altering early-life systems that promote intergenerational transmission of obesity holds promise for interrupting the continuing cycle of the obesity epidemic. A 2011 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report emphasizes the need for interventions early in life to prevent obesity. A 2010 IOM report called for addressing gaps in existing obesity research evidence by using a systems perspective, simultaneously addressing interacting obesity promoting factors in multiple sectors and at multiple societal levels. A review of evidence from basic science, prevention, and systems research supports an approach that (1) begins at the earliest stages of development, and (2) uses a systems framework to simultaneously implement health behavior and environmental changes in communities.

This is a project proposal implemented by Students of Makerere University Under Community Based and Education Research (COBERS) Meeting the Nutrition requirements of children aged 6months to five years has become a major global challenge and as such an estimate of 55 million pre- school children globally are malnourished. In 2010, the nutrition status of children under five in Uganda was estimated to be 38% stunted, 16% acutely malnourished and 19% undernourished and by 2011 the statistics stand at 33% for stunting,5% for wasting ,14% for underweight, vitamin A deficiency at 38%. The current levels of malnutrition hinder Uganda’s human, social, and economic development.

ENGL 1302 Due: Friday, November 18 McCourt Lab Six Assignment – Annotated Bibliography Using 3 of the sources gathered for your Proposal Argument essay (you could use the research gathered for the Ethical Argument instead, if you’d like), prepare an annotated bibliography. · Include the proper 4 line heading · Title should be: Lab 6 – Annotated Bibliography · Be sure to list the bibliographic citations for the sources in proper alphabetical order and provide the complete bibliographic citation with double spacing throughout and a hanging indent · Include a concise annotated paragraph under each of the source citations. Remember that an annotation includes summary as well as evaluation 2 Child Day Care and Aftercare Program Student’s name Instructor Course Date Introduction 'First generation' research on child day care and aftercare programs mostly looked at the child's impairment in isolation, while’s second generation' research tries to look at the kid's functioning within context (Baker et al., 2019). The family-centered approach emphasizes this setting by recognizing the importance of the home as the first and most influential environment for a child's development of the skills and knowledge valued in their society (Hotz & Wiswall, 2019). An essential tenet of this strengths-based strategy is that family values and customs provide the foundation for effective and long-lasting intervention. The family-centered criteria have not been met by conventional methods, which have been criticized for not being in line with family objectives and aspirations. Rather of recognizing what families and communities already know and do, a deficit model emphasizes what they do not (Baker et al., 2019). This method results in "professionally prescribed" treatments based mostly on the assumptions of experts without the requisite comprehension of the kid within context. Thus, families are frequently given activities or programs that are not tailored to their specific needs, which might increase their already heavy workload (Hotz & Wiswall, 2019). Families of young children experience events beyond those provided by early intervention programmes that can and do influence child development and family functioning, and this deficit-based approach to intervention has been criticized for not leaving enough time for families to engage in these activities (Baker et al., 2019). It has been suggested that studying children's activity contexts would help us better comprehend them in that environment (Hotz & Wiswall, 2019). What we call a kid's "activity settings" are the places and situations in which the youngster regularly engages in activities with others and the world around them (Baker et al., 2019). Due to a lack of studies, it is imperative that immediate steps be taken to enhance the indigenous knowledge-base of child day care and afterschool activity settings. Understanding children in their home environments will be aide.

Email: [email protected] Funding Information This research was made possible by grant R21 MH103627 from the US Department of Health and Human Services of the National Institute of Mental Health Abstract Mobile device use has become increasingly prevalent, yet its impact on infant develop- ment remains largely unknown. When parents use mobile devices in front of infants, the parent is physically present but most likely distracted and unresponsive. Research using the classic Still Face Paradigm (SFP) suggests that parental withdrawal and unre- sponsiveness may have negative consequences for children’s social- emotional devel- opment. In the present study, 50 infants aged 7.20 to 23.60 months (M = 15.40, SD = 4.74) and their mothers completed a modified SFP. The SFP consisted of three phases: free play (FP; parent and infant play and interact), still face (SF; parent withdraws at- tention and becomes unresponsive), and reunion (RU; parent resumes normal interac- tion). The modified SFP incorporated mobile device use in the SF phase. Parents reported on their typical mobile device use and infant temperament. Consistent with the standard SFP, infants showed more negative affect and less positive affect during SF versus FP. Infants also showed more toy engagement and more engagement with mother during FP versus SF and RU. Infants showed the most social bids during SF and more room exploration in SF than RU. More frequent reported mobile device use was associated with less room exploration and positive affect during SF, and less recovery (i.e., engagement with mother, room exploration positive affect) during RU, even when controlling for individual differences in temperament. Findings suggest that the SFP represents a promising theoretical framework for understanding the impact of par- ent’s mobile device use on infant social- emotional functioning and parent–infant interactions. Colleagues Responses Colleagues responses Assignment 4 8080 Part 2 . Interact with 3 colleagues and respond to them by sharing additional insights, comparing experiences, and posing questions that further promote dialogue. (Post to each colleague in 150 words.) Colleague 1 response: Posted by DeQuanda Cummings Optimizing Brain Development The first few years of a child’s life are critical for healthy brain development. Brain development begins during the prenatal period and continues through early childhood. Although the brain continues to develop into adulthood, the first eight years builds the foundation for learning and success (CDC, 2021). Brain development depends on many factors such as, prenatal care, experiences, and exposures to toxins and infections. “Nurturing and responsive care for the child’s body and mind is the key to supporting healthy brain development” (CDC, 2021). Positive and negative experiences help shape a child’s brain. How the brain grows is highly affected by the child’/ s experiences with people and the world. Children depend on interactions with parents and their caregivers to be responsive to their needs. Children thrive in environments where they can explore and play in a safe environment. Their needs ought to be met and not neglected. They do not need to be exposed to stress. As a parent and/or caregiver to support healthy brain development you can constantly talk to the child, read to your child, meet their needs, and offer them a safe place to explore and play. Speaking and reading to children increase their language and communication skills. “Nurturing a child by understanding their needs and responding sensitively helps to protect children’s brains from stress” (CDC, 2021). Exposure to stress can negatively affect brain development. When children are at risk, it can cause them a delay in accomplishing developmental milestones. They will distrust people if their needs are not constantly being met. This topic is important to me because in the school that I work at we have a high population of students who needs are not being met. When they get into the classroom, before I can teach them anything I have to meet their needs whether it be feeding them or giving them extra attention. I have even gone as far to buy clothes and shoes for students. This affected the students’ learning. They were usually the ones that were below grade level in the classroom. When having conversations with the parents, they want better for their children but did have the resources or just did not know. I will need support from pediatricians, early childhood educators, and counselors to help inform parents and caregivers about the importance of brain development and optimizing brain development. Sibling spacing refers to the birth interval between consecutive children in the family. The family is the basic unit of socialization. Family interactions and other dynamics such as birth order and sibling spacing shape the personality of children. This study investigated the relationship between sibling birth spacing and, extroversion and introversion characteristics of adolescents in Nairobi, Kenya. The study adopted mixed methods research paradigm with the correlation design. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used to select three schools for the study sample and participants. From each of the three schools, twenty five students were selected to make a total sample of 75 participants. The data collection instruments for the study were standardized questionnaires and observation guides. Data was collected and analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis and Analysis of Variance. The study concluded that close sibling spacing tends to produce extraverted and highly aggressive children while wide sibling spacing tends to produce introverted and less aggressive children. The study further found that the only children, ranked highest in introversion and, lowest in aggressiveness and extraversion. The study recommended that sibling spacing knowledge should be used by school career guidance masters as locally available method of predicting personality.

Wizards are very useful for creating a good user experience. In all businesses, interactive sessions are most beneficial. To improve the user experience, wizards in Odoo provide an interactive session. For creating wizards, we can use transient models or abstract models. This gives features of a model class except the data storing. Transient and abstract models have permanent database persistence. For them, database tables are made, and the records in such tables are kept until they are specifically erased.
