It is a pleasure to write a letter of support for Rick Huddle. He put together a literacy project for Newby
Elementary that was engaging and interactive for each and every student. We are still referring to it a year later.
I have had no reservations recommending Rick to other schools throughout our district.
Rick used his storytelling skills to engage students in both a classroom and personal project to create, write, and
then present their own personal narrative. His personal interaction with over 500 students was outstanding. He
is a master of his craft, and has the additional skill to bring theatrical storytelling out in others.
Rick was able to make the narratives engaging to all levels. He had students from kindergarten through 5th
grade excited about writing, speaking, and practicing the delivery of their own personal stories. He was able to
create age appropriate materials and avenues for each of the groups. It was impressive.
I have no reservations recommending Rick. He provided an Artist in Residence experience that will be hard to
beat for years to come. His residency at Newby Elementary was focused right to our needs and engaged the
students to the fullest.
