LEARNING WALK GROVEDALE COLLEGEYEAR 7 NUMERACY SESSIONMONDAY 1st AUGUST 2011
WHY GROVEDALE COLLEGE? WHAT DOES A YEAR SEVEN MATHS CLASS LOOK LIKE? ORGANISATION, STRUCTURE, STUDENT INVOLVEMENT ETC ARE WE CONSISTENT WITH THE TEACHING & LEARNING STRATEGIES USED IN OUR LOCAL SECONDARY COLLEGES? OVER 50% OF OUR STUDENTS WILL ATTEND GROVEDALE COLLEGE IN 2012 CAN WE BETTER PREPARE OUR STUDENTS FOR THE TRANSITION TO SECONDARY COLLEGE?
STUDENTS WORKING BOTH INDEPENDENTLYAND WITH A PARTNER STUDENTS READY TO LEARN TEACHER AND SELF DIRECTED LEARNING TASKS STUDENTS HAVE THE  OPPORTUNITY TO SELF ASSESS/RELFECT ON  THEIR LEARNING…… LEARNING INTENTIONS  ARE CLEAR STUDENTS  CONTRIBUTING CLASS WORK THROUGH EXAMPLES TO SUPPORT STUDENT LEARNING OUR OBSERVATIONS FROM THE  LEARNING WALK EXPERIENCE
THE LEARNING ACTIVITY THE YEAR 7 STUDENTS WERE  WORKING ON… WHAT & WHEN  STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE LEARNING INTENTION CLEARLY STATED OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO REFLECT ON THEIR LEARNING
WHEN WE DISCUSSED OUR OBSERVATIONS WE AGREED..... STUDENT LEARNING IN OUR CLASSROOMS COULD BE IMPROVED THROUGH HAVING THE STUDENTS SELF ASSESS/REFLECT THEIR PROGRESS ON A MORE REGULAR BASIS. THIS BECAME OUR FOCUS.
GRADE 6 REFLECTIVE PRACTISES ACTIVTITY
I NEEDED SUPPORT TO COMPLETE  THIS TASKS AND WOULD BENEFIT  FROM A FOLLOW UP CONFERENCE WITH MY TEACHER ON THIS TOPIC HOW THE REFLECTION PROCESS WORKS... I FOUND THIS A LITTLE  CHALLENEGING BUT COULD  COMPLETE THE ACTIVITY WITH  A LITTLE SUPPORT I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THIS TASK WITHOUT ANY SUPPORT
STUDENT WORK SAMPLE WITH LEARNING INTENTION
DIGITAL LEARNING MATHS ON LINE IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK ON PERFORMANCE ON LINE ACTIVITIES TO FURTHER SUPPORT CLASSROOM TEACHING AND LEARNING ON LINE TEACHING SESSIONS
SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE WAY FOR WILL’S TEACHER TO  IDENTIFY AREAS WHERE HE  REQUIRES SUPPORT - NON THREATENING - AREAS OF DIFFICULTY CAN BE EASILY IDENTIFIED AND ADDRESSED
STUDENTS ADD AREAS REQUIRING FUTURE FOCUS INTO FUTURE LEARNING GOALS

TEACHER FEEDBACK  ON PERFORMANCE
THINGS WE LEARNT FROM PARTICPATING IN THIS SIP 1. Authentic and meaningful reflection is an important part of the learning process. 2. Our students need more opportunities to evaluate their own work for the purpose of improving it. 3. Our students responded well to this activity we have committed to provide our students with future opportunities to reflect on their learning.
OUR TEAM WERE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE SIP IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS: ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE LEARNING WALK PROCESS. 2. ENGAGING IN PROFESSIONAL DISCUSSION AND REFLECTING ON OUR PROFESSIONAL PRACTISES  IN ORDER TO IMPROVE STUDENT LEARNING 3. LEARNING HOW TO CREATE A POWERPOINT, IMPORT INTO SLIDE SHARE & THEN EMBED IT INTO THE ULTRA NET

ORGANISATION, STRUCTURE, STUDENT INVOLVEMENT ETC ARE WE CONSISTENT WITH THE TEACHING & LEARNING STRATEGIES USED IN OUR LOCAL SECONDARY COLLEGES? OVER 50% OF OUR STUDENTS WILL ATTEND GROVEDALE COLLEGE IN 2012 CAN WE BETTER PREPARE OUR STUDENTS FOR THE TRANSITION TO SECONDARY COLLEGE?

  • 6. WHEN WE DISCUSSED OUR OBSERVATIONS WE AGREED..... STUDENT LEARNING IN OUR CLASSROOMS COULD BE IMPROVED THROUGH HAVING THE STUDENTS SELF ASSESS/REFLECT THEIR PROGRESS ON A MORE REGULAR BASIS. THIS BECAME OUR FOCUS.

I FOUND THIS A LITTLE CHALLENEGING BUT COULD COMPLETE THE ACTIVITY WITH A LITTLE SUPPORT I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THIS TASK WITHOUT ANY SUPPORT

Our students need more opportunities to evaluate their own work for the purpose of improving it. 3. Our students responded well to this activity we have committed to provide our students with future opportunities to reflect on their learning.
