To Whom It May Concern:
I am seeking a challenging and responsible position in Heavy Equipment
Operations that will effectively utilize my vast training and experience while also offering
a new challenge to my career. Since starting at Teck Coal Ltd., Fording River Operations
in 1978, then to North American mining, I have progressed from driving haul truck,
through a range of equipment such as dozers, graders, and excavators to operating various
sized hydraulic and electric shovels. To support my knowledge of operating equipment, I
still operate and train new operators on all equipment when necessary. My job
responsibilities included being the Senior Shovel Trainer that required me to train others to
operate Teck's current fleet of shovel that range in size up to P&H 4100 XPC A/C.
For the two years working at North American Construction Group, at CNRL Oil
Sands Project my main responsibility was overburden removal. As part of the role as Pit
Supervisor, I have also had the opportunity to assess and review shovel operators across all
crews and have been successful in coaching individuals to a higher level of efficiency and
productivity.
During my time at Teck Coal Ltd. my duties have included, but not limited to: Mine
Supervisor, training of Pit Foremen on most efficient shovel setups, major shovel moves,
assisting maintenance in troubleshooting shovel breakdowns, and most recently assisting
P&H in monitoring and modifying the 4100 XPC A/C shovel setup for optimum
performance.
I am a very motivated individual, who is committed to passing on my knowledge
and experience in equipment operations. I believe I would be an asset to your company
and given the chance would like to prove it. To further acquaint you with the specifics of
my background I am enclosing my resume. I look forward to meeting with you and
discussing my qualifications in more detail.
Sincerely,
Richard Kirkness
