1. Richard Dickmann
Head of New Business Development, Bayer CropScience Pty Ltd
After a 20-year international career with Bayer, Richard Dickmann
returned to Australia in 2008 to take a position on Bayer
CropSciences Executive Leadership Team as Head of New
Business Development. This department is dedicated to
assessing the long-term impact and trends facing Australian
agriculture and creating new business opportunities which
capitalise on the combined innovation power of Bayer and
Australia.
From a southern Victorian farming background, Richard obtained
a Masters Degree in Agriculture at the University of Sydney. After
working in government extension and agricultural insurance,
Richard held various management positions with Bayer in France,
Singapore, Japan, China and Germany, accumulating broad experience in food production and
distribution issues.
Richard believes it is an exciting time to be part of the Australian agricultural industry,
specifically in crop science. The Australian agricultural market is one of the most
environmentally and economically challenged markets in the world which forces farmers,
researchers and the food value chain to innovate every day. This is one reason why Bayer is
one of the few global crop science companies continuing to invest heavily in local research and
development activity in Australia. Richard believes that by innovating together with farmers and
stakeholders, Bayer can help address global food security challenges.
