Career Summary
October 2016 – Present: Student Voice Facilitator BCUSU, Birmingham, GB
I thoroughly enjoy my current role as Student Voice Facilitator within Birmingham City University's Student Union.
The role is focussed around organising and leading student advisory panels, through which I am contributing
towards our vision to pioneer a new form of student democracy. This role has allowed me to develop my
leadership and interpersonal skills, as it is crucial that the student panels are both productive and participative
for all involved. At times it can be a challenge to meet the requests of everyone, but through impartiality and
professionalism, I have become very resilient in sensitive situations. I consider my experience within this role to
have made me a more effective member of any team, as well as being more solutions focussed.

external websites and resolving first, second and occasionally third line support issues.
My position within the business has been extremely progressive. Initially my role focused on internal systems, but
evolved to include managing the development, implementation and maintenance of RegDelta, JWG’s
proprietary regulatory big data management platform, which comprised a large number of highly enriched XML
documents focusing on Financial Regulation.

A short role providing assistance to first year students with their end of year projects. My duties included
coordinating group discussions and leading weekly meetings to provide support and information to students
regarding their project and final presentation. Meetings were also held with students on a one-to-one basis to
monitor progress and provide additional mentoring. I was also involved in organising the Innovation Festival day,
allocating student locations, equipment and providing support to groups throughout the day.

3. Projects
Whist at Birmingham City University, I have had the privilege to work on multiple projects to help create a better
learning environment. Each project was funded by CELT and was either in association with the faculty or student
union.
Developing a Learning Resource to Support Vendor Certifications - Working with an Academic to create a virtual
learning environment aimed to help students prepare and partake in external vendor examinations such as the
Microsoft MTA certifications and the Microsoft Office certifications.
Academic Manifesto - We asked over 1,000 students for their suggested improvements on their course which
they would like the Union to campaign for. The result was the Academic Manifesto. The Union has since been
campaigning to get each point implemented.
Innovation Fest 2015 - An exciting festival of talent aimed at supporting technically-oriented entrepreneurship
that will showcase the innovations of the BCU community and students across a range of subjects.
Innovation Fest marks the high achievement of our students and community in what is shaping up to be an
engaging and eventful year for the School of Computing, Telecommunication and Networks.
