To Whom it May Concern:
My diverse career experience in TV, film, theater production and office
administration makes me a uniquely qualified applicant. I highly value the performing
arts in NJ. Please consider me for this or any position that best fits my skills and
benefits your needs.
Since the 6th grade, Iâve been involved in the performing arts. Magician, stand-up
comic, puppeteer, musical theatre and dramatic actor, barber shop quartet singer, event
emcee, event planner, set builder, stage crew member, lighting assistant, set designer,
stage manager, crew chief, ticket salesman, concessionaire, location scout, production
assistant, assistant director, production coordinator, production manager, business
promoter, office coordinator, producer and, of course, audience member.
Most recently, I was a freelance part-time Studio Manager for Iron Bound TV &
Film Studios in Newark, where I serve as a liaison to the client. I made sure they had
everything they needed. This might have included anything from assuring the air
condition system was working properly to finding and procuring vendors.
I was also a freelance part-time Producer for JOBUSU Productions, a corporate
and network TV video production company. I have produced video projects all over the
country. My responsibilities included all aspects of pre-production, shooting and post-
production, from creating a budget to booking crews, talent and locations to finally
delivering the end product to our clients.
For eight years prior, I had been the Office Manager/Event Coordinator, a paid
position, for the Nutley Chamber of Commerce. In that time, I increased their
membership more than two-fold; expanded the size of the board; created and launched
the Love Nutley/Shop Nutley, NCoC Gift Certificate and Membership Discount
Exchange campaigns; solicited numerous new membership benefits; and quadrupled
their monthly luncheon attendance. Many of these changes required carefully cultivated
relationships with the township, business owners and the townspeople. I was willing to
go door-to-door and have face-to-face meetings to accomplish these tasks. I also
coordinated the move of their office from a basement into a professional space; initiated
and wrote their weekly newsletter; updated and maintained their website; and
established specific processes and procedures for bookkeeping, event planning and
communications.
I'm the Membership Chairman, Nutley High School Student Liaison and I sit on
our 2016-17 Seasonâs Planning Committee of the Nutley Little Theater. I have also
worked with many other local community theater groups as a set builder, performer and
promoter.
I worked for ten years in NYC as a Key P.A., Location Scout and 2nd
A.D. on
many syndicated television shows, commercials, concert videos and studio features. I
am a DGA qualified 2nd
A.D. I dealt with production reports, extras blocking, crowd
2. control, union contracts, scheduling, etc. Iâve also written screenplays and series pilot
proposals.
Having been an elementary and high school substitute teacher for many years,
an at-home dad for twelve years, heavily involved in children's community theater, a
puppeteer, and a childrenâs author, I have just as much experience with kids as with
adults. I even produced children's "edutainment" videos and toy commercials.
Each of these jobs has taught me how to communicate efficiently and effectively
in a personable, friendly, persuasive, professional manner with individuals as well as
large groups, children and adults, alike.
I am seeking a full time position with a salary of $42,000/year. I do not require
benefits and I am available to begin immediately. I am extremely interested in this
particular position, but would also be open to discussing others you might be attempting
to fill.
I look forward to discussing how I can bring my extensive experience to you.
Attached is a copy of my resume. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Richard Spector
